About me:
I LOVE to hang out with my hubby......we have been married for 17 years and have a FABULOUS relationship. I am soooo blessed. I miss my "kiddos". Derik is our only child, and he has been married for 2 1/2 years now. They live in San Diego CA now.....he wa winged in May, and is with his permanent squadron in SD now. We spend a lot of time in the mountains....fly fishing and just enjoying the fresh air!!! I LOVE photography....love birds.....and MOUNTAINS!!! So Montana is a perfect fit for me!! I like to bead, and scrapbook too. And I love summer when I can work in my yard and grow flowers..... then I love winter when I can hole up in my craft room and play!!!
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Mother Navy is the BOSS....and you need to get used to it!!! And our kids....they actually don't mind that at all!!! ;0)
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Most of Blake's friends & classmates from Pensacola and Jacksonville are in SD. He said even when he's sent there for training...it's like a vacation to get to see everyone. I've heard funny stories about the 50 cal too! Did he love the water growing up too? My sons have always pretty much been ducks.

Thanks for responding and for the friend request. Kelsey actually has a year left of high school, so won't be going to basic until next summer. But talk about determined.. this is all she wants, she is very disciplined in the workouts I've designed for her, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get this thing done. I told her this morning about how they have toughened up some of the requirements and she said "but this is all I've wanted" I told her to just stay the course, stay disciplined and trust that the Lord will give you the strength to do what He has planned for you. I know this is going to be tough, not just for her but for us too. She is our youngest, so once she leaves we'll have the empty nest going on. It sure is nice to know I have some other mom's that will be here to give support. And your prayers are certainly appreciated.
You are in Montana? My mom was born in Montana and we used to visit relatives there in the summers. I love that place... Big Sky country. So beautiful! Thanks again.

thanks for taking the time to respond. Do you know if the embassy suites is close to the naval station? I found out there are several navy lodges in SD, but all booked. I can get a room at the 32nd st. Lodge from June 30 to July 3. I will try again, I did try to get a "package" flight and room together but need it to be close; to the base. (and I'm not familiar with the area)

Hi Kari,
Jill left today for SD so they'll have 3 days and 4 nights together (she comes home Tues.) They're going to the zoo and to look at apartments again. Greg says he really needs her right now as he's having a hard time getting over SERE and classing up almost immediately for FRAC. She won't be back here for long before she goes to Wisconsin to see her family, then when she gets back from that she'll be getting ready to move down to SD. So we won't see much of her. I'm just glad they're finally going to be together at last. By this time next week Derik will have his wings, how exciting!

Kari, I'm SO ENVIOUS of you! Congratulations to Derik on a job well done! And to you for making it through with him! Have a fantastic trip to SD. Let us hear how the pinning ceremony goes and what those of us behind you can expect. I'm looking forward to Evan coming home for the upcoming 4-day weekend (his 21st birthday present). Hopefully, I'll be just a couple of months behind you. Will Derik have a duty station assignment after graduation? Evan has said that he won't be moved until after October. Congratulations again!

Hi Kari, Greg called Thursday night to wish me an early happy Mother's Day as he'll be busy doing something else on Sunday. He said he was nervous but glad it was finally here so he could get it out of the way. I just told him that he had a ton of people praying for him and no matter how difficult it was he could get through it. He said he'd call next weekend when it was all over and he'd taken an hour-long shower and eaten 20 cheeseburgers.

All I know is that he starts SERE school next Monday and I know of 1 other guy, Shawn, (Christi's son I think) who was a travel buddy when they drove from P'cola together. Don't know who else. He and Shawn likely won't be together out in the field anyway. I know Greg would appreciate your prayers being added to ours for that very difficult time. But I have great faith that he'll get through it OK.
