Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
When I was a new Navy Mom I really had to learn Patience. Things happen. Schedules change. Leaves change and they are a long way away. And I am still learning that 6 years later.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Christmas Letter from my Navy Son

We will all see each other soon and when we
do we can cherish the love of family that we all will
bring, a day doesn't make a holiday, an hour doesn't or
even a minute. We do, our smiles- our hugs and our love - one for each other.
It doesn't matter when or where,
or even if we stand together, each of us knows that the
love is there and it is always there. Not many things
I can carry with me when I go where I go. I take pride
and courage, and I take love. It makes all things
possible. It remi

I understand sailors make complaining into a practically a fine art. But if I were stuck inside of a sub for days I would probably complain a lot when I surface. He is very, very busy because his boat is short on junior officers. He is doing more than normally assigned. I hear through the grapevine (moms whose sons are under his care) that he is a "good guy" - a high compliment. He feels good about his job, especially compared with some of his high school classmates, who were given much from birth but have decided to take the easy way out and just coast.

Hi,
I read that your son was just accepted into OCS. Congratulations!
My daughter also enlisted as a college graduate and has been in a year now. Just curious, how long did it take your son to be accepted? She is thinking about applying. Thanks for any info. you can provide.

You'll want to join the OCS Moms group. Click HERE.
My son also graduated from college and went through OCS in 2006/07. He is currently out on deployment. He is a nuke officer on a sub.
It has been quite a journey. Bea

Hi Kathy, my sailor's been at Corry Station one week. He just came up from the NAS after finishing the basic electronics for CTT AEF and is hoping to class up before too long. Congratulations again to your son. It sounds like he's really made the most of his time!

Hi Kathy, My Nuke went into the Navy in 2006 after High School. He is an ET2 and is deployed on the USS Miami. Its a fast attack out of Groton. His older brother graduated from college and enlisted in March of 2007. He's a CTN2 and is in Norfolk. He was at Little Creek for a while, but I don't know if he is still there. He just bought his first home in Virginia Beach, so I'm guessing he'll be in VA for a while.

Kathy - how did I miss that your son was in Pensacola. Anyway, yes, my son is there. I wonder if they know one another.

Hello Kathy,
I am doing good. My summer has been busy, between working, and doing things with my singles group here in DE. I have only been up to see my son twice since he has moved to NY but I am hoping to get up there soon. He is suppose to be coming home I think the end of August for a long weekend visit but that is up in the air too. I too don't get on here as much as I did because I go to facebook and hang out with many friends that I have re-connected with from my school days and I also chat with some of the Navy moms as well. Well thanks for the note, I am on my lunch so it is almost time to get back to work. Glad to hear from you, keep in touch.

Thanks Kathy for the support of my comment. I was worried after I posted it that I would make some people mad, but I wanted them to know that rumors can be very damaging and interfer with the security that is necessary for our sailors. I too try to be careful what I say because my sailor has told me the same thing. Again thanks, Kelly

Yes - Spence is from MN. He is also in Ballston Spa. He is on section right now, and hopefully he will be graduated by the end of summer - only 6 months late! But oh well, what are you going to do!!!!
