How have you been? How is that handsome sailor? How long will he be in Korea?
Chris has indeed asked to stay an extra year. He should know sometime this month if his request is approved and also if he's made E5. It should be an exciting month for him. He went with a couple of RADML's and a few others to the DMZ a couple of weeks ago. Then they flew back to Seoul in a blackhawk helicopter. He was so glad to have gotten the opportunity to do that. His roommate from Chinhae is already back at the coast and now he has a roommate that he also knew in A school but who was in a different C school. This one is there permanently, so unless Chris gets moved to the E5 barracks this guy is his roommate for a while.
If your son decides to make a trip to Seoul sometime, if he gets word around fast enough, I'm sure Chris would be glad to meet him at the base and they could do some sight-seeing together. Have a great day and a big hug to you and Chucky.
Navy Hugs,
Mary
I started the Dolphin group for moms whose kids have left P'cola and started their naval careers...
Thank you for responding. It's great to hear from someone who has a sailor over there. I'm glad that Chucky is happy, I do know what a relief that is just knowing they are not miserable. My son was actually down at the coast with his temporary roomie this past weekend. His roommate is one Chris went to A and C school with, and has been temporaily assigned to Seoul (they take 60 or 90 day rotations). My son is one of many Intel folks at Seoul, but he is the only permanently stationed OpIntel so they "borrow" OpIntel folks from Chinhae. He would rather be stateside or in the Med. but thinks he has decided to ask for another year there as he says it will greatly help his training, and career. He feels that he gets good contructive critism there, so he is happy enough.
What rating is your son and how long has he been in, and how long has he been in SK? Chris PIR'd in January and left for SK in June. Please tell your Chucky thank you for being there and serving. I know you miss him as I miss Chris, but they are doing something important with their lives and growing up.
Have a great day and I hope to hear from you again soon.
Navy Hugs,
Mary
