Mary so glad you are back. They light at the end of the tunnel is only a few more months away for J. He should finally finish A school in February. All he keeps saying is that he is so sick of GL. I am sure he will be happy to move on to C school ...

We did have fun! Sal graduates from power school (nukes) Nov 20th- We are going to Charleston for the graduation to see him and Kimberlie. He will stay in Charleston for Prototype , which will start in Feb.

Work as an adminstrative assistant.
I am very proud of my son who left for boot camp yesterday 11/18/08.
I know that God and the Navy will take good care of my son when I cannot.
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be patient. You are on the Navy's schedule now. Leave it all in God's hand as he is in control.
Pray for them often.
Never assume that you will hear from them while they are in BC. Remember no news is good news.
They may not contact you even on the holiday's such as Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Write encouraging letters as often as humanly possible. Remind them how proud you are of them and how much they are loved. I personally chose not to tell him how much I missed him for fear that it would make him more homesick.

A Mother’s Prayer
God, Father of Freedom, look after that boy of mine, wherever he may be. Walk in upon him. Keep his mind stayed on Thee. Talk with him during the silent watches of the night, and spur him to bravery whenever called upon to face the cruel foe. Transfer my prayer to his heart, that he may know the lingering love that I have bequeathed to him as an everlasting gift.
Keep my boy contented and inspired by the never-dying faith in his mother’s God. He is my gift to freedom. May that freedom forever remain untarnished, God. Through the lonely and confusing hours of training and combat, and throughout all the long days of a hopeful victory, keep his spirit high and his purpose unwavering. Make him a proud pal to all with whom he comes in contact and make his influence a noonday light wherever his duty takes him. Satisfy the hunger of his soul with the knowledge of this daily prayer of mine.
To my country, and to world freedom, O Heavenly Father, have I bequeathed this boy of mine. He is my choicest treasure. Take care of him, God. Keep him in health and sustain him under every possible circumstance of events. Warn him anew under his shelter and under the stars. Touch him with my smile of cheer and comfort and my full confidence in his every brave pursuit.
Silent and alone, I pray, God, but I am only one of millions of mothers, whose prayers stream day and night to you. This is our Gethsemane. Lead us victoriously through it, God. And lead that boy of mine through his. Fail him not .... and may he not fail You, his Country, nor his mother. Thank you

A SAILOR'S CHRISTMAS

Twas the night before Christmas,the ship was out steaming,
Sailors stood watch while others were dreaming.
They lived in a crowd with racks tight and small,
In a 80-man berthing, cramped one and all.
I had come down the stack with presents to give,
And to see inside just who might perhaps live.
I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stockings were hung, shined boots close at hand,
On the bulkhead hung pictures of a far distant land.
They had medals and badges and awards of all kind,
And a sober thought came into my mind.
For this place was different, so dark and so dreary,
I had found the house of a Sailor, once I saw clearly.
A sailor lay sleeping, silent and alone,
Curled up in a rack and dreaming of home.
The face was so gentle, the room squared away,
This was the United States Sailor today.
This was the hero I saw on TV,
Defending our country so we could be free.
I realized the families that I would visit this night,
Owed their lives to these Sailors lay willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play,
And grownups would celebrate on Christmas Day
They all enjoyed freedom each day of the year,
Because of the Sailor, like the one lying here,
I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas Eve on a sea, far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.
The Sailor Awakened and I heard a calm voice,
Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice."
"Defending the seas all days of the year,
So others may live and be free with no fear."
I thought for a moment, what a difficult road,
To live a life guided by honor and code.
After all it's Christmas Eve and the ship's underway!
But freedom isn't free and it's sailors who pay.
The Sailor say's to our country "be free and sleep tight,
No harm will come, not on my watch and not on this night."
The Sailor rolled over and drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours, so silent, so still,
I watched as the Sailor shivered from the night's cold chill.
I didn't want to leave on that cold dark night,
This guardian of honor so willing to fight.
The Sailor rolled over and with a voice strong and sure,
Commanded, "Carry on Santa, It's Christmas, and ALL is Secure!"

Kathy, I am sorry to hear that, but is he happy and doing ok! Yes a year I cannot believe it. Where will he go after A school? I have heard that waiting for school is up to 8 months but not as long as Jerry has been waiting. Does he like it there? Will you be able to see him for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Stephen has to work both those days and even if he didn't I would not be seeing him anyway. LOL Let's keep in touch!

Hi, almost a year November 18th, can you believe it. Where is J now? Stephen is great and he is in Naples, Italy, I know you know that. LOL How are you been? I talk with Stephen on skype all the time so it is nice. He has received two metals so far and went the the Navy Ball, so he has been very busy. He loves it in Italy, he has been to Rome and Spain so far. We are going to visit him in May, 2010 can't wait to see my boy. He cannot come home during the hoildays he has to work, I guess someone has to work. LOL Give me an update on Jerry! Take care! Good to hear from you.

Hi Kathy, it is so nice to hear from you. I know about being sad, but I am so happy for the boys, they are moving on and that is why they went into the service. How is J doing? Its sounds like he is doing great. Stephen's leaves tomorrow, he is packing, that is a very sad site.lol But he is so excited and ready to move on with his life and career. I am very proud of him. And I know you are very proud of your son Kathy. Cheer up they are doing what they want too! We will just miss them so MUCH! Let's keep in touch!

Thank you - I plan on trying to make my page less boring when I can really focus (oh to have a tecno brain!). Plus the Monster Child is looking at me with his tennis ball so will wait till this weekend. :-)
