ProudMom- are they enlisted or officers? I think it's considered fraternization if he lives with enlisted guys. If not it's at least frowned upon.

So many great new people!

I thought since I'm meeting a lot of people on this site that I'd write a little more info about Reggie and myself.

Reggie is from Mounds, OK and I'm from Weleetka, OK. Both of our families are still there. We met on a blind date in 2003 (our first semester in college) We went to different schools so we had a long distance relationship for the next four years and got married on July 7, 2007. I got my undergrad degree in biology at east central university in ada, ok, and i'm now in the OU colleg… Continue

I got a phone call today!!!!!!

I'm so excited to hear from Reggie I could cry! He's first week is up and he said it was really hard. A lot of people in his class are being held back because they couldn't do enough push ups. they had to do 47, and reggie did 48! whew that was close! He said he should be able to call me once a week on sundays now!
I am so thankful for the people I have found on this site! I was a complete wreck before, but i'm doing a lot better now.

Thomas graduates 29 May. I finaly got flights booked. We have reservations at NavalLodge, but he says to book off base. Where are you booked? I know what you mean about finals. My other daughter has them this week. She is a 2nd year at Mich. State University. (The Spartans) So did Thomas and his girlfriend is a sr now. So those 2 girls think I am a crazy Mom as I am focusing on flights, hotels, cars, and this trip. I am like a kid in a candy store and cannot concentrate on work right now. I just want to get on a plane (before they close airports due to swine flu in Asia (hasn't hit too much here yet) But it will simply kill me if I miss this event. I know so little about military life, except, without them we would not have our freedom we have today. I know many get disgruntled with things, but when you live overseas and see a lot of what I see, WE HAVE IT GOOD IN OUR COUNTRY! Never take anything for granted. What kind of medicine are you studying? What does your husband do? Our son is a civil engineer so he is going to be part of the Naval corps of civil engineers (unless they change it). Study hard! I love to learn and my motto is to learn something new each day, no matter how small or how grand it is. Of course living here in Shanghai, you really don't have to look far to learn something new! But no one is too old to learn new things. It keeps one young. My mom is 89 and God Bless her .. she is the energizer bunny and has done so much for her community, town, state, country. You don't have to be a movie star, queen, CFO, CEO, Chief, each of us can do something if we just open our eyes to each other and stand up for what we believe in. oops.. here I go again.. typing too much.. (sorry) take care!

Hi. Reggie may know our son "Thomas" (Tom) He was one of the guys held up for pushups. He would have been in your husband's class, but wasn't meant to be. I think it was in the BIG PLAN from the guy upstairs as now my husband and I can make it to graduation. You see we are working in Shanghai for a couple of years and the 28 and 29 is a holiday here and my husband has some around the world travels and will end up in the states week prior, so I am flying BACK HOME TO USA for Memorial day weekend and then catching a flight out east for this REMARKABLE LIFE EVENT! Can you tell how excited I am??!!?? I cannot imagine no cell phone, no laptop, no emails for how many weeks? I could not do what these guys/gals are doing. BTW, July is a great month to get married in. My husband and I were married on July 12 1980.. yep.. and still married. We also had a couple of years of long distance romance.. heck.. much of our early married life was long distance as my husband traveled a lot. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I am bummed that we will not meet in Newport.. but congratulations to your husband and never know where paths may cross. I have met so many people here in Shanghai and a few years back in Europe when we lived there with the kids. I have to say, though, as soon as they tell us we are done here I AM ON A PLANE BACK TO THE USA. Being away one becomes much more patriotic (I was but am more now) and hope as I move onto life after work I will do volunteer work for these guys/gals overseas. As you can see I like to write, so maybe I will just write letters to those stationed overseas.

Hey there woman! So I got here Friday and I've been having a blast! Grad is so close...whoohoo! For Hi Moms I'm wearing a black dress - it seems like the perfect go between - not too casual, not too formal. For grad I'm just wearing a church-like dress.

Oh! Geeze! And I thought i was going to have a busy month's end! Sounds like you're stacking dominos! haha! Yeah, I'll be there the entire week before grad. So lame...haha! =D That's right, you did tell me that you weren't able to go until the day before. But at least you are getting to go up for small visits here and there. I haven't seen Nate since Jan. 27th - he left a bit early to see his family before OCS. So, I'm stoked. hehehe... I hope I get to meet you at the grad! You better make sure to come find me - i will probably be lost somewhere.... haha!

That's exciting! You're going to love Charleston! It's absolutely beautiful! When are you heading up to RI? I can't believe that I'm down to single digits before I get to leave! My bag is already half way packed! haha! I have to take all my finals a couple of weeks early, but I am waaay too excited to care...but I anticipate this weekend to be torturous! =D

That's pretty cool you're going for the ER. I hear that is the best place to start off because you learn so much from the variety of cases coming through the door. I'm definately one of the people who enjoys my school work. Its very true that if you find something you enjoy doing, it's not work. Do you know what career field your man is going into? Or where you will be stationed for his training?
