During boot camp and A school, we sent a lot of mail to Will. He was in Yoko for a month before he got on board the ship and was able to call and leave facebook messages or chat. He did not give an address of any kind or e-mail address. We are waiti…
Our son tried to call earlier,but it did not go through. Nice to see all of your comments and know where they are now. My son is in damage control and new on the ship. I can't wit to hear from him.

New Destroyer Mom. Have not hard from my son since Monday. So...you can send mail and can I get his address or do I need to wait until he gets in contact wih us? Just want to know he is on board and safe and i might be able to sleep tonight.

They usually have every info you need on ship's website. Also it's a good thing to contact ship's ombudsman whenever you have a question.

- It's hard not hearing I know, every thing is so limited on information I know its the safe thing and I am glad they are so tight liped but its hard on a momma no matter how old they get! And boys are just not as good at the relay of infomation, I have a 18 year old daughter and she's better at it at least in our house. I think all males are somewhat ADD, haha. You'll get a call from him I am sure soon. Corey Calls a good bit when in port, I send him calling cards and notes that say you can use half of the time for your friends but me and your sister get the other half. If it helps mine had mentioned when he called yesterday that this was going to be a busy week ( nothing bad routine stuff but busy) so I am sure with being new he is just caught in the middle of every thing. They seem to take care of each other ok and I am sure he is getting things in order and meeting new people. hope your getting sleep I couldn't when he 1st left until I knew he was semi-happy!

- So Katie your son is on the McCain also? It is so nice how we can all kind of semi-meet this way. Its kind of reasuring to know the people's "people" our sons are living with.haha. Its scary getting use to not being able to talk to your son when you feel you need to, I had Corey call one night (in the middle of the night as he often does) and I was dreaming about him on this funny little island and he was calling from Guam. Anyway, the next day I had to check my phone just to make sure I had really talked with him and not just dreamed the call also! When he calls I almost always get so wraped up in hearing his voice and the things he has to say that I forget all the things I need to ask him. I have learned to write out a list and keep it with me so I will remember all the things I need to tell him or ask him about. He is good about sending email and like me he writes like he talks so when I read it I hear his voice its so nice. I guess we just get use to it and sometime Its like he's almost here. God Bless our Sailors and keep them calling home even if its the middle of the night!
