I am glad I found the site too. Has Lance said anything about Jason? I am new to this whole Navy life and its really tough getting used to missed holidays and such. Will they be able to have more contact in school? Jason has told me that Lance was a little shy in the beginning but that doesnt work with Jay. He said he got him out of his shell a little and now they are all really good friends, like brothers. I hear theres a handshake they all do haha. He also said Lance is really smart. You have a lot to be proud of Katie! Only a few weeks left. Happy New Year! :-)

Hi Katie! I am pretty sure my boyfriend (Jason) is your son's bunkmate. Jay has told me a lot about Lance. They even want to be roommates in their A school. How are you handling the holidays without Lance home? I know its hard here for me and Jay's mom. Jay told us to sign up here and I hope talking to other people will make this easier. Boot camp is almost over...whew!

AWWWW Katie! Thank you so much for that little tidbit of information. I had to delete your comment off my page though because you wrote Brian's full name ;-) I got another letter from Brian today and he is doing so good and feeling great about things. He talked about Marie's son also. I am really really looking forward to the new year! :-D

The Navy Lodge is very no frills but the rooms have a coffee machine, a microwave and a small refridgerator. Best of all, they are Clean! LOL I think we are paying $68 per night. Two beds, a small table, a desk and the TV armour can make for cramped quarters if you are trying to visit in one room with other family staying there, but our biggest concern was to be as close to base as possible. Plus we have family coming in from Virginia and Massachusetts so price was a big concern for them. It all depends on what amenities you want....

My husband works for the county government too...Human Resources. He loves working for the county. We both feel so fortunate that we have jobs we love and that won't be cut in this economy.
I broke my ankle falling down cement stairs at the Wisconsin football game. We go to one Badger game a year and so look forward to it. We were on the way to our seats and I fell and broke it. We missed the entire game, ended up watching it from the emergency room. We did enjoy some tailgating before hand and a fund raiser called the Badger Bash. We stayed the night in a hotel so Bill (my husband) did get to go with friends and celebrate the Badger's victory that day...I was too drugged on pain killers:) So, the last time Scott saw me I was on crutches.

How far you from GL? Where are you in Indiana? It takes us about 3 hours to get to the Chicago area from here. We're about 45 minutes south of Green Bay. We live in a city that is on the largest inland lake in Wisconsin. We have a population of about 25,000. I teach at the biggest of 9 elementary schools in our city. We have 450 kids in our school. I teach 5th grade...3 sections of science, 1 section of advanced math, and a section of literacy (reading/language). I have 2 teriffic partners that I share 75 kids with. I love my job but am happy to have this week and a half off. I just got over a broken ankle - was on crutches and casted for 7 weeks! So I need this break just to get my life back in order and to feel really rested when I go back on the 5th. By that time we'll be saying "only 2 -1/2 weeks until PIR"! Whoo Hoo!

Hi Katie, The Navy Lodge is literally right around the corner from the base. The only thing offered outside of the room is free coffee in the small lobby but we stay there because it is inexpensive and close to base. of course that means we have to travel anywhere else we go because there is nothing else right outside the base... well, except Flanagans :-). But we stayed there for Sarah's PIR in October and were happy with it.

We're departing GL on the 25th (Sunday) Back to work on Monday. I'm a teacher and only get two persoanl days per year so I have to use them wisely. Took my 1st one for Scott's swear in.

Hi Katie-
Thanks for the good thoughts sent Scott's way. I believe that things happen for a reason so there has to be a job out there that is better suited for him and that is why all of this is happening. We'll arrive for PIR on Thursday evening. All of us have to work that Thursday (my husband, daughter, and I) so we'll probably leave at about 6:00pm. That should get us to GL around 9:00 or so. We're hoping that his girlfriend gets her final exam changed from the 23rd so she will be able to join us as well. She goes to school 3 hours away from here and is starting her winter term (3 week class) on Monday the 5th. We got a letter from her yesterday and she said she'd ask right away on Monday. I guess I have already told you all of this....Scott tells me to stop telling him the same things in all of my letters! He doesn't realize how boring my life is, plus the senior moments keep getting more frrequent! :) I can't wai to meet you too and to meet Lance. Big hugs, Jill
