My son, Christopher leaves Norfolk tomorrow to head to Maine. He wasn't supposed to go until January, but he is very excited anyway. He'll be driving, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for good weather and no problems. Thank you. Kay L…

This group is for those of us who have loved ones waiting to join together on the USS Jason Dunham. Lets share our stories and keep in touch as we wait for our sailors to arrive on this Destroyer.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
to trust his judgement that he would not buckle under the pressure of being in new surroundings without parental supervision.

Hi Kay Lynn ~ My son's aunt & uncle live in Sweeny. Sweeny is such a small community I thought you might know them. At one time we lived in Liverpool. My son Matt is a seabee and he is stationed in California @ Port Hueneme. Right now he is deployed in Okinawa. This is his first deployment and he is really enjoying Japan.
Have a great day,
Margaret Roden

Hiya Kay,
My son is also assigned to the USS Jason Dunham. I started a group for us, so we can keep track until the ship is ready for all of them to meet up.
I'm so excited about them being Plank Owners, I hear its very special.
I look forward to us chatting more.....

Hi Kay,
The specifics I posted on our page for the Shopping day are below. I just posted another one with my cell phone and Brenda left hers as well so we can connect once we are in Old Town Spring. Can wait to meet you there.
Coyote (see below)

Hi All,
Those of you planning on attending we are trying to come up with a good meeting location. I've checked with some restaurants but can't find one open in the morning there. We usually park on the backside of town (if you look at the map posted on their website it's the one at the bottom.) We drive down Gentry, turn right on Preston and turn right at the end of the street to access that parking noted on the map. If you walk back up preston there are some covered walkways back to the left on Gentry.
I'm thinking around 'gentry square' #315 on the map. What do you say we meet there? I'll send everyone attending my cell # via private message towards end of the week when we have as many RSVP's as we can have.

My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - He just returned from three months in Kuwait and on oil platforms in the Persian Gulf. He is now stationed in Virginia.
