Of course not all sailors are men, and my daughter for one is working on the ship Xmas day. But it least it's not Afghanistan or Iraq...I suppose having served myself I have a very different perspective, but best to all in your endeavors.

Vic really dislikes the food on the tub also. She will be enjoying Tokyo Disney for Xmas and make it home on 1/15/2010 for her first visit in a year. We are hitting Vegas for a couple a days and really having a great time while she is home. Her time…

looks like my daughter won't likely make it home for the holidays either. She is planning for February/March at this point. And apparently food choices on the tub are waning as they inch closer to home, plain macaroni in the salad bar, but no salad,…

Natalie- I am pretty sure he can call, write or use the e-mail at will, assuming he has a phone card, stamps or computer access on ship. It seems you can find a computer if you really want to. On a side note I learned that females must now wear col…

Of course as my daughter said, a female can wear a shirt with no collar-hmmm bogus!

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Find a good recruiter, then roll with it.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Kaysan: I would still like to send a Christmas box to Vicki if it is okay with you. We are doing boxes to 131 sailors (20 women and 111 men) who the chiefs in their shops say they never receive packages from home. But I also want to send them to the sailors of the HS-14 moms on N4M as well if they are going to be there for Christmas. I will send those directly to them. Can I include Vicki? If so, will you please email me at mjbader53@comcast.net with how to address her box for her? I plan to mail them Thanksgiving week to make sure they get there in time. Jon will be there at Christmas also as will Garrett so I'm sending them boxes also.

Hope all is going well with you. Any news on Vicki?

Hey, I hadn't visited your page before. I sat and enjoyed all Vicki's pictures from Japan... Or did you go and take some pictures yourself? Either way, someone is a good photographer. My husband Randy is a prof. photographer. His specialty is architecture. Many of your uploaded pics are extremely pleasing! I'll have to remember to check back periodically to see what new pics you have! Beth

Hi Kaysan,
Thanks for the info. on the ship address. My son was only in Japan for 2 days before he left on the ship so I don't think he really had time to figure out things.
I'll keep asking him for it...

Kaysan,
I know these sailors must get frustrated waiting on orders that they don't get until the last minute. I know it is frustrating us us Moms! I just hope he will enjoy his time in Japan.

Hi, thanks for the info about the passport and money exchange. I'm hoping my son will be able to come home before he leaves for Japan and I thought we could apply for the passport while he is home. Did your daughter get to come home before she went to Japan? Thanks.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and I owe my undying gratitude to our Navy Sister Edie and her son for it. I got to see my son doing one of his jobs when he was in that division. Hugs, M.J.

Thanks for the tip about Skype. I have a laptop and so does my son so it should work. When they've been in port in Japan we've been able to chat on messenger nearly everyday. That has been nice but now I miss it now that they're underway. I still get the occasional email message and am thankful for that. Thanks again! Take care, Candy
