I am wondering how long it took for your son to get home and how is he doing now? My son went through a similar situation, that's why I am asking.

The Ultimate Pain

Ultimate Pain.mp3My newborn baby cries
And it’s hard to listen to
But I know it will be okay
Crying is what babies do.

My little toddler cries
Because he scraped his knee
But I know it will be okay
With a band aid and a kiss from me.

My tough teenager cries
Because he’s very mad
But I know it will be okay
Tomorrow it won’t seem so bad.

Hi, Kelley -
I remembered you said that Brandon was going for an evaluation today, so I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I hope it went well. Ellen

WOW! The Pentagon! This is very cool. I really hope it does some good. It really is upsetting to know that those kind of conditions exsist in 17. It just can't go on.
Way to go mom!

Kelley -
Thanks so much for letting us know that your letter to your Senator got results. It does give me hope for our young men and women on Ship 17. I am so proud of you for writing and letting your Senator know about the conditions under which the kids being separated are held. It really is just not right.
I hope Brandon is doing well now. Thanks again - Ellen

Kelley,

Just thought I'd check in on you and see if Brandon has been discharged yet. We're hoping to hear something this week. Courtneys been in there 4 weeks now, because of the Navy's screw up with her paperwork...twice. Let me know how things are going.

Kelley,

The guys and girls are on different sides of the building. She sounded OK, but I had to tell her that it wouldn't be this week that she would be leaving because of the mix up. That dissapointed her. Sadly, I think she's getting used to that place. We both feel like she is in prison. I think they're aloud to go outside, at least in prison, and sit on their beds or chairs, and exersice. She did say she'd probably have a hard time re-adjusting to civilian life, after learning to sleep with one eye open. The commanding officer in the ship asked her if she was an only child because her mother calls sometimes 3 times a day. She said no, she's just very persistant. I will not stop until she is (let out).

Hi Kelley,
I finally got a call from Courtney yesterday, After 2 calls to Ship 17, and 1 to legal. She said they all lost phone privilages an Saturday because they found drugs & weapons in some of the bunks! She is not in Ship 19 for drug or mental issues and she is unable to sleep because she never knows who will be next to her when she wakes up. I still don't have a discharge date. Someone screwed up in legal and now her paperwork was sent back there to begin the whole process again. I'm really starting to worry about her. I told the woman I spoke to in legal that I'd probably be calling tomorrow and the next day, and the next day, until I have a discharge date. How are things with your son? Courtney said they get a phone call tomorrow if nobody screws up. How long has your son been in Ship 17? I'll keep praying for our children. Hope to hear from you soon.

Kelley, That poem is incredible. It sums up the feelings for any Ship 17 mom, for any Navy mom whose child is far away and a crisis happens, You can post the poem as a blog here, and then all members could view it, as it shows up on the front page for a day or so. Thank you for sharing that, Your son who sang it is awesome too!
