I not sure on this I know the only people that could have a car in "A" school where I went was if you drove it there think "fleet returnees".

my son is looking into this while he is there. He said the taxis and the shuttles are not cheap. They usually try to find someone who does have a car so they can pay them some gas money. He's still on the fence about this. Thanks for the extra info

Pearl Harbor sounds nice! I wouldn't mind having to spend some time in Hawaii haha! I know he'll make it through boot camp, its just hard to go from spending everyday with him and being able to call or text him whenever I want to not being able to talk to him hardly at all. I know we'll get through it, its just going to be a learning process! I appreciate the support and I will definitely let you know if I need a place to stay, a condo on the beach sounds lovely :)

Im pretty sure that the command at pensacola doesnt allow students to have cars in A school. its really due to the fact that there is not much parking. However i will contact a shipmate down there and get the full answer for you......there is really alot to do in and around that base(its the home base of the blue angels so he can see free practice shows, and the National Museum of Naval Aviation is also there), and there is a shuttle that runs to and from the beach(im from that area, actually fort walton beach, FL about 30 miles east, but i used to go there all the day)....motorcycles are dangerous in that area! 3 of my friends from high school were killed down there in the last 6 months due to accidents, esspecially in the summer because that region is tourist central!....like i said i will double check with a shipmate that is actually at taht command to make sure of the rules about cars

Thanks for the comment. What is your son's name. My son, Drew, was very interested when I told him I had a response from a Mom who has a son that is leaving for BC the same day he is. I am very excited for him. I am hoping he takes advantage of this opportunity and makes the best of it. He is going into the Nuke program. He will leave immediately after BC for Charleston, SC. He will not be able to come home until he finishes A school. By the way, what is A school?? I will keep in touch. Maybe we will meet at graduation!!! Best of luck to you and your son!!

We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.
