About me:
Proud single mom of a young man who just this week left for boot camp.
I am here to support or represent my:
Michael
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I am still trying to learn. I have alot of questions and need some answers. His recruiter seems too busy talking on his cell phone with his girlfried then answering my questions or giving me correct answers.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger

Wow, that would not make me happy to have go all the way back to day 1! KC said the same thing, she is 25 but in her words the "kids" won't listen so they all get into trouble. KC left the same day as your Michael, yet graduates the week following, wonder how that happens? I wish your Michael all the best.. laura

Dear Kim,
How are you doing? This Navy for moms is a blessing.
Everyone has a bad word about the recruiters. They don't give the correct answers many times. I went through it as well. I can't beleive though, they didn't tell you about the Boot Camp being in Chicago, Il.
It's not manadatory that you go to Chicago for Michael's graduation. But, as a mother, it's another accomplishment for Michael, you should be there. It's up to you if you want to see your son graduate. It is a major event. You have two months to save up for it, if you decide to go.
Michael is fine in Boot Camp. Once our babies get in to the rountine of Boot Camp, they like it.
It's the moms having the nervous breakdowns!!! HA HA!!!!
Around the the third week, you'll receive a long letter from Michael.
I do tell moms, the first letter could be a little sad, their still home sick and not into the rountine. I head of cheerful first letters as well. In any case, the letters do get more uplifting to read.
Please, ask me any thing about Boot Camp, I just went through it myself two months ago. I noticed you joined the group for Boot Camp moms, that's great. I always advise the groups as well.
Please keep in touch.
Take care and God bless.
Barbara

Hello Kim. How are you doing tonight? I never rec'd my 30 sec. call either. His recruiter should be able to give you an address in about 3-4 days. Daniel went in on Fri. 7/18, i rec'd no call and got his box the following Wednesday. The following Friday, I rec'd the 'form' letter. After that, you should start getting letters home, usually on Wed or Thurs. That is the start of 'stalking the mailman'. Not too long after, you should get a call, usually around the 3rd or 4th week. By then, you will start to feel more comfortable and confident in your new situation. Still worried, nervous and now eager to share with your new friends here at N4Ms. You will find alot of the questions you seek answers to are right here. There are many moms (and dads, wives and other family members) who have already asked they same things and are willing to help you find your way around. And many coming in everyday looking for the same answers. Please don't hesitate if there is something I can help you with. Feel free to email me anytime or just stop by whenever. It will get easier! I promise. Hugs and Prayers, Debbie
