Is it November yet?

Ok, so tomorrow it will be a week since my son left for boot camp and it seems like about four weeks! I still have not received my sons box of belongings. They say patience is a virtue. This is certainly good practice! I would love to hear from anyone who would like to share their experience, strength, or hope.

First Blog

Hello Everyone,

I have been a member for about a month now and am just sitting down to write my first blog. My son Kyle enlisted last month and will go to boot camp on 9/4. I'm happy I found this sight and appreciate all the good information.

My husband and I have two kids, a Boxer and a Cat. We live in NY. I'm a nurse and I work with handicapped adults. I really enjoy working with people who have special needs.

Hi Kim-
I am new to this site, and I am sure it will help me get through this process. I cant believe how long it takes. He originally signed the enlistment papers last January. He isnt even sure which program he is going to yet. He just took the test for the Nuclear program and passed it. He is waiting to hear if he gets accepted. I do not come from a military family, so this process is so new and unfamiliar to me. At first I freaked out. But now that he has graduated college, it's his life to do what he wants. I now think the Navy is a good choice. He signed up for a 6 year commitment. I sincerely hope he enjoys his experience. Do any moms from Westchester get together? I would be interested in joining that group.

Hi Kim,
Kyle has been on hold for quite a while. I bet he's looking forward to start on Monday. I hope he hasn't gotten too bored. Ben has completed two courses and begins A school for sonar tech on Monday 4/27. It is an eighteen week course ending with grad on Aug 27. We were able to see Ben last weekend while we were in Connecticut for a conference. He too is doing well. It was so good to see him again.Take care and God bless. Martha

Kim! You know just when to write. Sam is good he will be finished with his over seas trip on Jun 3rd. And I'm hoping that he will be home by July. And yes my little empty home feels like home.LOL But I have to say that my co-workers gave me some good things to start out with. Lots of pictures and all kind of wall hangings and kitchen things. And it really came in handy. I thank God for them. That was truly a big, big help. More than they could know. God has been bringing me through some depressed times and he is handling things like a pro. Just like I knew he would. God as been so patience with me. So kind and understanding and he still loves me. He is teaching that if I would just trust him and stop forgetting that I'll be alright. And everything is working out just fine. So 4/27 is the big day. And yes he is going to need all the prayer he can get. Because in between classes and all night watches Kyle is going to be tired. Because Operation Specialist was not Sam's first schooling. He wanted to be a corps man. And that schooling was hard and they wanted him to to watch and get up after a 30 min to and hour sleep yeah he was tired. So in that he was disenrolled. And thats how he became OS. And I'm glad for that less stress. And as always it is so good to hear form you. God Bless

Hey Kimmy, How are you? Yes I've moved and it is okay. Don't really feel like home until I get some more furniture. My little house is kinda empty. But I know in due time. All will be complete. Sam is still out to sea and very ready to come home. Good to know that Kyle is doing well. How is Kelly doing? I've been thinking about you. No real reason just you being on my mind. So glad to hear from you. I have a face book page but I don't know how to get into that just yet. Well maybe you will find me there somewhere. LOL Any ol way have a blessed day

Hey Kim, I've been a little down lately. But you know I was thinking of you this morning. I was going to write you but I got caught up in my own world. Trying to snap out of it. I'm so glad to hear from you. I missed Sams phone call and you know that I was really upset about that. To hear his voice on the answering machine was to sad for me. But he sounds in good spirits. To me it's like I get so caught up in trying to forget my problems I forget to pray. I'm working 2 jobs just to stay a float. I don't have much time to spend with my 12 year old. And I hope that it does not affect him in the long run. I hope that he understands that this is something that I have to do. Not by choice but by force. But you know I just don't know. I'm scared Kim fighting loneliness and being at work all the time. Is really hurting me. What do you do when you don't know what to do. But tomorrow I'll put all on God to think about him more and pray more. Well that all about me. I hope that you are doing better than me. God Bless You Sister Lots Of Love To You

Hi Kimmy, I'm not on here as much either. But I see that you have traded me in for face book. :) What kind of stuff is that. Sam is doing good he's out to sea. And he will be glad when he comes home. And so will I. I'm finally about to move after living with my Mom for 8 plus years. I moved in to help when my daddy passed in 99. But now it's my time to go. And I tell you that I'm so scared with times the way it is now. But I'm going to step out on faith. And pray that I will be able to do it. Just pray for me really really hard. I'm going to need all of the prayer that I can get. Sorry I'm beginning to ramble on. Lots of Love May God continue to Bless You And Your Family

Hi Kim,
Good to hear from you. You are right, I don't check this site as much as when the boys were in BC. It sure does help to hear from them weekly. Ben has bought a laptop with a webcam so we can actually see him too. That's fun.
Glad to hear Kyle is doing good. It's hard to be on hold but once the REAL school starts they will be busy. Lots of opportunity and adventure ahead for them.
I am busy keeping my daughter focused on applying for scholarships and getting her ducks in a row for college next year. I have another leaving in Sept. They are all leaving too quickly!!
Take care,
Martha
