Not only does the navy not pay for anthing involving the graduation, but the info they send in the graduation packet is not up to date either! I spent a lot of time choosing which hotel to book our rooms at, making sure it had breakfast bar for a qu…

According to my son they are not scheduled for another deployment until October 2010...he said he will not be home for NEXT Christmas for sure. This one is iffy.

I spoke to my son this evening and asked him about Christmas. He said that if the ship is on call only 20% of the ship's crew will be allowed to leave. He was lucky last year that he was not one of the people that had to stay and he got to come home. She might be right about not being able to leave. I guess all she can do is request leave and see what happens.

No, I have not found out about Christmas yet. I do think that they are not going out until NEXT October (2010) The Abraham Lincoln (their Air Craft Carrier) is in dry dock getting some work done on it.

NO...I did not hear that. I considered myself lucky to have had all my boys (at least the younger ones that do not have their own families) home last Christmas. What upset me though was that I could NOT get them to put on their uniforms for a photo! I will ask him though.

Yes, they are stationed in Everett AND they were on deployment together...I have not been on the Shoup web site but on the Momsen site there were pictures of "crossing the line", the water balloon fight and many others from the deployment.

Melonie,

Welcome to Destroyer Moms! My son is on the Momsen. They are in the same battle group. When they were on deployment last year there were pictures of the Momsen and the Shoup shooting water balloons at each other.

Melonie, come join our group, Navy Mom's of Daughter's. Is the Shoup deployed?? If not you could send her a cake in a jar & a couple others of her favorite things. If the ship is deployed, you coulod always send her the cake in a jar. I know of a couple other websites where you coulld send her birthday treats. Does your daughter live off base?? It's always easier to send special treats if you don't have to send mail to an FPO, AP address.
