I'm sorry you and your son are having problems getting answers. One thing you learn being a Navy Mom is patience. All will become clear when the Navy is ready to make it clear.

Is there a freeze on recruiting?

My oldest son is almost finished with A school and his younger brother also wants to join the Navy. He has been to MEPS and passed is physical. He has taken the ASVAB and was assigned(?) a job. He was supposed to go back to MEPS(?) with the recruiter to sign the paperwork. The night before he was supposed to go (I mean around 9 or 10pm) he got a call from the recruiter canceling and was told it would be rescheduled. That was around August 13th. Since that time my son and I have both called the r… Continue

Laura, Thanks for the idea and the encouragement. I had not thought of doing that (asking a different recruiter) I will give that a try. I know that his form letter will arrive any day now, I just can't stand the not knowing!!! Patience is not my strong suit! haha. It really does help to know others have been where I am (with the sadness etc) I AM proud of him but just feel like I had to release him and all of his childhood all at once, while other moms get more time, as their kids go off to college etc. Oh well thanks again for the boost, I needed it! HI, It was good to meet you earlier at the get together. Hope to see you at the next one. You know I got turned around in that parking garage...going around in circles before I figured out that I needed to go up a level to get out of there! And as soon as I took care of parking before pulling out into the street, my hubby calls but nobody was behind me so had a moment to listen to what he had to tell me. God Bless & take care, Karen

Perhaps Chad will give in and let you attend. On the other hand perhaps he's trying to help you with the separation... I'm actually ok with not attending the swearing in. I think the separation was easier. I got my letter and his box of clothes today. It is one day short of a week. I was shocked! James says he's doing well , and that "they don't yell as much as everyone says, but then again he may be used to me! I look forward to staying in touch.

Hi Laura,
You are not alone on the "forthcoming information". I actually had to call my son's recruiter to see what time he was leaving. My son's recruiter came to the house to pick him up and take him to MEPS. I did not evern know that attending the swearing in was an option. It's amazing how much info I am able to find out on this website. I'm now checking it everyday. It will absolutely amaze James how much I know the next time I get to see or talk to him! Take care. BTW James got to GL on Tues night- 1/27, and called me at 2210 PST.
