About me:
Serving among the silent ranks has not been an easy job, but my pride grows every day knowing that I raised a Hero...

I am the proud mother of the 2 greatest kids in the world....
My oldest is Jonathan... He is a Petty Officer 3rd Class and a Search and Rescue Swimmer.... OOHRAH Sailor. I am sooooooo proud of him and all he has accomplished in his few short years in the Navy. During his 2 deployments he has been to 11 countries and seen things I will only dream of. He is stationed in Norfolk, Va. aboard the Top Gator Freighter... the USS Nassau. I once heard it said that a true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him but because he loves what is behind him.... and that suits my boy to a tee.....
Then there is Bailey... that girl is something else...she is my best friend and what keeps me young... When Jonathan left it just about took us both under...but she is a trooper and has been my rock since he left. Her boyfriend is a Marine... so we are a house divided but we stand united.... lol. She is a varsity cheerleader at our local high school and she is Miss Jackson High School .
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Looking at the man my son had become made me realize that i did a darn good job!!!!! LOL
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

OMG -- I just read your paying it forward. I am there TODAY-- my son took the oath on Monday-- June 1 -- and pride goeth a fall. The adreline is gone I am so down. Feeling selfish-- such an ugly emotion. I have moments today when I can't imagine him not laying on the couch or doing things with his brother. When he is not within touching distance. Today I dont' want to share him. Amidst the birthday cake for my baby boys 16th bday and the gifts -- the lasughing - building a bonfire--watching them horse around in the yard-- all I could think was last time. LIke I said selfishness is an ugly emotion. Cover it up-- go in the house -- make tea-- get towels-- run around --sit in my lawn chair and just listen, Suck it up-- call out the numbers of the general orders for a sentry -- this is what he wants. The pain--DO NOT LET HIM SEE YOU CRY-- I feel like a crazy woman. This is so not me-I'm the one peole cry to. The one with a joke or a hug. The hard realization is that I did what I was supposed to do. God gave me this beautiful creature to raise and turn into a strong, independent, caring individual-- I got exactly what I worked for. I was about to start a blog about how I was feeling and I clicked on pay it forward. I know exactly what you felt. I know I can make it -- hundreds of thousands of women have done it before me. I needed the validation. I am not a crazy woman. I just don't want him to see me cry, it's a big enough decision without a mother's tears to cause guilt. So, I came in here, typed and cried, and cried some more, I feel better . Thank you for being here --Susan

Psst.................how have you been? I have been slammed at the office and trying hard not to think about my Kenny leaving for survival training (45days) at Camp Lejuene but he arrived there on Tue this week. God I miss that kid.

How is Jonathan and Bailey bug? Josh visited us three times (it was great) and the last weekend visit was such a surprise as he and a fellow Marine wore their uniforms when they arrived in San Francisco to meet us. Such sweet boys with good hearts. I heard J&B are not so good and not together. Sad chapters of young true love. We have all been there. How is Bailey? Maybe by the time you get this, things will be different between them. ALl the same that sweet child has nothing but good things to say about you, Jonathan and Bailey......gotta love him.

So I will be flying to New Orleans on 16 Jun and traveling to Memphis to see Graceland and meet my N4N pals too. I was wondering how far are you from Altanta? I will be driving from nephew's in Roanoke, VA to Ocean Springs MS and if you are within an hour of the route, I would LOVE to meet you and Bailey.
Check in when you can. Toddles for now.Monica
