My stomach muscles are very tense as I read your story, not knowing what you would say next. It is a relief to know that your son is okay and hopefully and his girlfriend as well. May you and your family continue to be blessed.

First, I would like to Thank all of you who sent your prayers and thoughts for my son. Almost to the day of one year ago today, I hugged my son for the last time for a long time. He was leaving for boot camp. I was a complete mess, this was my baby. I went thur all the same lost feelings you have all experienced. This site was my God send. Finally the big day, Graduation! And two days of site seeing and just being with him. I had to keep looking at this handsome young man and my heart was so ful… Continue

The meaning to the 13 folds of the American Flag

After I wrote the blog "A Flag, A Dragonfly and A Daughter", I was ask by many to tell the meaning of the 13 folds, so in honor of Veterans Day and my Dad. here goes... The 9th fold I dedicate to all of you.

The 1st fold or our flag is a symbol of life. The 2nd fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life. The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world. The… Continue

A Flag, a Dragonfly, and a Daughter

When my father passed away I was given the honor of reciting the 13 folds of the flags. Two Honor guards stood behind me and folded the flag as I recited the meaning of each fold. We stood on a beautiful knoll where my father had fished most of his life. It was a hot July morning, and many of his loved ones, friends, and Veteran's of every generation was there to honor my dad. The Bagpiper played softly while I recited the words, " The first fold is the symbol of life" The Honor guard made the f… Continue

For my Father, for my Son's

Every Veteran's Day, my father would take us to a parade. When I was little, the parade meant candy, floats, and a day off from school. We would always go to the V.F.W., and drink hot chocolate and eat cookies while my dad helped get things set up for the parade. Many Old timers, with uniforms of long ago, flags on their lapels and medals on their chest sat among us Some in wheel chairs, some with canes and walkers, some trying to stand up straight. All here for the day, once a year, every year,… Continue

IT feels so wonderful to be a part of this great bunch of people

Ok, here's the story. A new mom came on the site a few days ago, I welcomed her and she went on to tell me that her son and family had a falling out before he left for boot camp. She had no idea what his address was or who his recruiter was and no mail or phone calls from him. Needless to say she was heart broken. This really played hard on me. I can't imagine one of my boys away and no contact. So.... I used this wonderful loving site and went to the PIR group that I thought he might be in and… Continue

Well CJ won't be home for awhile after all. He hit a wall and failed test 5 (twice) of his LEI tests (6 computer based tests in 4 days). He was suppose to come home on New Years eve, but will now go before the academic review board on Monday and they will decide if he gets held back or gets dropped and goes undisegnated ..sorry can't spell this morning) He is SO bummed and depressed right now. He was doing GREAT till this set back and of course now he feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. On top of it all he is sick and had to go to medical last night.
Hope your staying warm and safe in all the snow your getting down there in the valley. Coming back to Idaho last week was a nightmare, it was a solid sheet of ice the entire way from PDX to Idaho. tonight it is suppose to be a whole NEGETIVE 9 degrees!!! WHY???? didn't I move to Florida??????

P;S. Mommy is always asking about you guys, wondering if you all have wrote any meessges or anything since boot camp is over.

Leann,
I am just so thrilled for Mani! It is a start. I know others who have gone thru this and it all worked out in the end. I am praying for Mani's son's heart to soften and a wonderful reconciliation. There is nothing stronger than the love of a mother towards her child. And I'm really happy that our PIR group was the vehicle that has helped Mani get the information she needs. I want to write directly to her, but her page is not loading properly for some reason. If you are able to talk to her, please tell her I am praying for her and her family!

Thank you all for your help. I walked into the recruiting and told them that I am his mother and I want a way to contact him. They gave me his address and now all I have to do is figure out what to say. I can't even tell you that he will even read it. He called my brother inlaw this weekend and told them that he was fine and doing ok. Its not as bad as he thought it was going to be. Keep up the prayers and maybe he will call his mommy !!!!!!

Leann, I am wondering how Brent Daniels mom is making out with contacting him. I hope if she normally is not a forwar, persistant person that she becomes one in this case. Please keep me informed.
