About me:
My husband Mark and I have been married for 24 years, our son Sam is our oldest and the one who has joined the Navy. He left for bootcamp on April 8, 2008. Div 204 ship 14. PIR 5/30. He is now stationed in Everette Washington, proudly serving aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln as a DC/FN
I am here to support or represent my:
Sam
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Sam is alot tougher than I gave him credit for. He is a grown man, and has to fail or suceed on his own. I am proud to say he has Suceeded!!!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi,
Ledonna, just wanted to let you know that that are 4 events planned in North Ca. The one nearest you will be in Los Altos on October 25, 2009. A number of moms in San Jose are in the group. Here is a direct link to our group.

Hi!
Jared was cranking while on the cruise, so we didn't get to spend much time with his fellow DC's. But, we did get a personal tour of their display in the hangar bay and his wife did try on the full firefighter gear. She agrees with you, very hot and heavy. I only tried on air tank & mask ... that was heavy enough, LOL.
Yes, we did get very lucky with the weather the day of the cruise. Could not have been better. I think the cloud cover made it better to watch the air show, but the wind sure was strong!
We spent the rest of our time in WA playing with our granddaughter, going shopping (of course!) and to see the Tulip fields - gorgeous!
Hope you are all well.

Ledonna -
It was great to actually meet you on the Lincoln a couple weeks ago. I hope you enjoyed the cruise as much as we did.
Take care.

Hi Ledonna, I have looked everywhere for information on DC. Im glad to have found someone who has been through it! My husband went in as DC and I was wondering what his A-school consisted of, how many weeks total was he gone after boot camp finished? My husbands PIR is 10/24/08. Our first born is due Dec. 21st, So i am hoping he will be done by then.. I appreciate any information! Chrystal

My son is home on leave for 14 wonderful days. He hasn't heard whether he'll wait for the ship or board it while still out at sea. I'll keep you posted. We are looking forward at a chance to board the ship ourselves and take the Tiger Cruise from Hawaii to Everett. If you get a chance, check out the Silo while you are at Great Lakes. Terrific Chicago pizza! Enjoy your son's PIR and congratulations to him for a job well done.
