Encouraged him/her

The Soldiers Mother Creed

“I am the Mother of an American Soldier”

I give my complete and unwavering support to my Soldier. As my son serves the people of The United States, so I humbly offer up my prayers for his safety and the safety and health of those he serves beside.

I respect his choice to adhere to a strict moral code and system of values that has preserved our great country for over two centuries. I accept that my Soldier’s first duty is to his country, and I understand that the sacrifice he willingly makes is what keeps our nation great.

I will never expect anything but the best from my Soldier, for I know he is capable. I know that a Soldier’s heart is true and strong, and that my Soldier will endure.

I will never abandon my Soldier, my Son, my Hero. I will love him unconditionally. He will know I am there for him, even when he is alone.

I am disciplined. I am emotionally and mentally tough. I am learning to wait for phone calls and letters or emails home. Like my Soldier, I am an expert.

I stand ready to do whatever I can to let my son, my Soldier, know that we are here for him, beside him, and we love him. I am the person who stood guardian of this man who has become my Soldier. He is now our guardian of freedom and the American way of life.

Leia,
Remember when we needed this site to get through a day? Post a blog, I just did. I'm leaving in nine days for A school graduation. Oh my gosh. I can't wait to see him. He was kinda different than himself at PIR and I imagine that he's gonna be more different than himself this time. I haven't written him a single letter in A school!!! My Mom has though. I call him and he calls me. I've sent packages though. He gets to be home for almost three weeks. I told him he has to clean his room when he gets home and he said alright. He has some goofy, odd things that I couldn't throw out. I don't know what that stuff is. Computer stuff, car stuff???? It does feel kinda cool to get his room ready for him to come home. I'm gonna make his bed tomorrow evening after I get off work. Slammed and dunked with work right now. I had my easy couple of weeks, but reports went final early and my boss said I have to finish reconciling before I can have next Friday off (his graduation day). We are hitting the road as soon as Kevin gets off the school bus at 3:00 next Thursday. Pat will start off driving, and I am supposed to sleep while he drives so I can drive the crappy shift (midnight to five). I've never been able to sleep at all in the car, but I will plaster my head on a pillow against the window and rest with my eyes closed and listen. Maybe I'll doze off a little bit. I could use some prayers that I do doze off while Pat get's us going. And it would be cool to have some prayers while I drive the crappy shift that I find a few awesome truck drivers to follow while everyone in our car is sacked out and snoring. I'll have to download some tunes to a CD that are my favorites and smoke a cigarrette every half hour. Chris wanted to hit the road and come home right after graduation Friday. I told him that we have to sleep one night in a bed first because I'm getting old. So we will be back on the road Saturday morning. It's a map quest 14 hour drive. So (((((hugs))))))))) to you and maybe we'll see that superbowl commercial this year.

Oh My Gosh!! If you and Anita come for a weekend trip, please let me know. If you don't stay at my house, I'll come find you gies. I do have two weekends of not available: Oct 17-19 going camping for the covered bridge festival in Southern Indiana and Nov 7-? going to Christopher's A school graduation in Mississippi. My neice has a baby shower Nov 1 and I just need to cook and attend. That's just an afternoon thing though. I really don't like attending showers either. They are so dorky, but I always go. Other than those dates I can work around just about any options. Chris is trying for top in class too. So far he's at 100%. I had to be honest with him and said I don't expect such but would be really, really tickled if he did graduate at the top. And I had to add that I do expect him to stick with it and stay focused. This is the same kid I called in Wyoming five days a week, several times to get up and go to class (that started at 4:00 in the afternoon). I really hope that you gies do not come back this way on the two weekends I can't do it(covered bridge & Chris's graduation). Pick any other weekend and no matter what my schedule holds, YOU GIES will be the priority. We'll have a blast, I'm sure of that. Let me know. And you should really consider to stay here...cuz hotels suck and so does every meal out.

Hi Leia, nice to hear from you. George called me last night and was excited to tell me he got a 90% on his first big test, second highest in the class. He was pretty happy. I am planning to fly George home for the first weekend in November (Halloween wknd) as a surprise for my daughter's 18th bday so I do not plan on going back to Chicago. I went twice already. I enjoy going there though, it's my hometown. I grew up not far from there so I always enjoy it. Yes, San Diego is a really pretty place, it has changed so much from when I was stationed there.

Your son started on the 10th or the 16th? George started on the 9th I believe. Either way, early December is when they will be done. He is SO excited to get the heck out of Great Lakes!

Have a wonderful day! :) Gigi
