Profile Information

About me:
My name is Lilly. My son Carlos left for RTC Great Lakes, IL on Thursday Sept. 3, 2009. He joined as DEP at 17 years old after graduating with honors from HS and 1 year in college. He is my only son and he is my life. I cried the day I took him to MEPs to take the test, he wasn't recruited at school... he just asked me to drive him there and that's what he wanted. More about us later. I am mainly here for support and just to have information and communicate with my son.
My son graduated Navy BC on 10/30/09 I am so proud of him and so happy he is doing well, most importantly that he loves the Navy. Now he will go to A School in Pensacola, Florida on 11/4/09. I'm so excited! I love this site it has helped me get through the difficult times and the moms on here are awesome!

Thanks.

Hi Lilly, my son is Div 370 Ship 10. I received his form letter on Saturday. It states PIR is 10/30/09. It sounds like it is going to be a full graduation as the previous week 10/23/09 was cancelled.

Hi Lilly,
I hope soon you to will receive a letter. I can't believe it. I wasn't expecting a letter for a couple of more weeks. Also, we called his recruiter and they gave us the wrong Div so I'm glad we waited until we heard from Austin.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for supporting his decision to join the Navy. You will be getting your 'child in a box' and your first letter, soon. Your 'box' will contain the clothes he wore to boot camp and anything else that he had with him that he won't need! The letter will give you an address...write often...but expect only one letter a week. You will want to check out the 'Groups' tab at the top of the page under the banner...then type in Boot Camp...you will find a lot of answers and information on that group site. Once you know his PIR date, you will want to look for a group with his date and ship #. These groups usually have a gathering near RTC--Great Lakes the night b-4 grad. You will get to know Mom's from all over the country with recruits in your son's ship.
You can also look to see if there is a group for your son's rate (I assume AO) and for your state. You may even find other mom's from your hometown. We have a group here in IN that meet every month for dinner. Bottom line...you have found a great site for support.
