Sorry everyone, I just have to brag for a minute: We just got a text from our son that he scored a 3.95 on the math test today! He's pretty pleased! So are we! He was worried because he'd been tutoring several other sailors who were struggling with…

Kind of like the opposite of SC. My son, who is still in power school at NNPTC says they tell him there that the seasons are early summer, mid-summer, late summer and not summer.

I got a pleasant surprise from my sailor last night. We talked on the phone for about an hour, and he said he gets to come home earlier than we thought he would fro Christmas. He should be home this Saturday! 15 days leave! (2 of them spent driving…

I haven't heard of them being able to pick a roommaate. I'd be real surprised if it happens.

kendrasue - I just had a nice phone conversation with my sailor this evening. I asked him if he knew anything about what percent don't make it through, and he said he thinks it's about 10-15% - and that's from A school thru prototype, not just power…

When our son went to GC we sent him 2 boxes with all of his stuff at his INDOC address. He got the 1st one within a few days, but the 2nd one got "lost" in the mail room and it took several days for them to find it again. Luckily his phone and lapto…

Deppers are recruits on the Deferred Entry Program, waiting for their turn to enter the Nuke program (or another area I suppose). My son was in the DEP program for Nuclear Power Training and had to wait the full time he was told he'd have to wait. H…

Jenny - LOL! The first thing my daughter has to do each time she comes home from NJ (she's not the one in the Navy) is go to Portillo's for a REAL hot dog. They don't have anything close in NJ. You can bet my son will want to do the same when he com…

Everyone starts out with required study hours of 15-3s, meaning 15 hours a week, 3 hours a day. Depending on how well they do, those hours can go up or down. All studying is done in Rickover (where the classes are held) so when they are done there,…

Welcome Francine! Must be nice to live so close! Steve's got about a 14 hour drive to come home for Christmas. Luckily he's got a buddy to share driving so they'll get here faster, give each other a driving break. We plan on coming out for graduatio…

Hi Rosie, I'm sure most would say that physically A school is easier than BC, but study-wise it's a far greater challenge. It's important for your boyfriend to remember that if ever he feels he needs help with studies he is struggling with, the inst…

Dear Linda, I am so sorry that I missed reading your message but I did. When we got back from GC, there were 269 messages and somehow I missed it. Is Steve coming home for Christmas? Jeff is flying in on Dec. 18. Power School is 24 weeks and starts every other month so Steve's grad. should be in May. Be sure to go, it is really great. And try to reserve one of the "Villas". Very convenient and close to NNPTC. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you, Steve, and your family. Pat

yes, we are coming back -- flying in again. I am really excited about the PIR - hear it is just awesome. I only wish that Chris had the entire week-end like we thought he would have. Oh well - nothing we can do about that. So, we are hoping that he doesn't fly out too early and that we can at least spend time with him in the airport. He should know on Friday when his flight is -- so we can plan according to that.

He plans to spend most of his time back in South Holland and run the Chicago Marathan so we won;t see him too much :(. I am looking forward to our visit and some warm weather!!! so sorry I hadn't responded earlier. I haven't been on this page in awhile. Shawn is an MM, but unfortunately he will not be graduation on the 2nd. He has failed too many exams and now will have to go to some kind of oral board thing on Mon. If he passes that, then he will take the final and graduate a week late with a different class.
