Profile Information

About me:
In October of 2007 we were excited when we found out we were going to be grandparents. Our second child and son in law were expecting. Plans were being made. Then on Sunday morning November 18, 2007 there came a knock on the door. Two police officers were there to notify us that our oldest daughter had been killed three weeks before her college graduation by a drunk driver. In January of 2008 our son graduated fro High school. He over came many obsticles but one goal he always had was to join the Navy, so it came as no surprise when he announced i april that he had joined and would leave in august. My first gut response was to talk him out of it. Since I had already lost one child I was fearful of losing another. So to ask about me is to say I am a survivor, I am faithful that God will watch over him and all who serve, I am loving and very proud and supportive. My family is my life.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Kyle has completed boot camp and "A" school. he is an MA.

i have learned to be patient. He will contact us when he is able. i know that the Navy was the right choice for Kyle I can hear a maturity in his voice that I have not heard. I hear pride. He is currently deployed overseas on shore duty and is enjoying the experience.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
