Margo~ I'm sure he does if they are on the fly squad...that's so cool...even though I was just out there, I can't wait to see him when he comes home for Christmas...I'll ask him if he knows Sprayberry.

Oh wow, does your son know Sprayberry. I belive he is also on the fly squad. He is a good friend of my sons.

oops...I forgot the most important thing he does...he's on the "fly squad" which means, he's a first responder/fireman and if something catches on fire, he's the first to be there.

Hello Ladies...yep, I was at the commissioning, that's where my page photo was taken. Zach had duty that day. Zach is in engineering. He is in charge of elevator operations, bringing aircraft up to the flight deck, and runs the diesel generators tha…

Oh my gosh Anna, I didn't realize that your son has been in San Diego for awhile. For some reason, I thought he had just arrived; sorry about that. My son is an ABH. I have the same questions as Laurie does for you; maybe our sons know each other.

Greetings Anna and welcome! I live in the Denver area. My son works on the flight deck, an ABH yellow shirt. Where does Zach work? Were you at the Commissioning? I was on the Tiger Cruise and loved every min of it. Margo ( hi you:) is right, this is…

Zach is a plank owner...he was assigned when he finished A-school. He came home for a while and flew to San Diego in December of last year. From there, he was sent to Mississippi and brought the ship back around South America.

Hi Lisa - sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. Still having trouble being able to read your replies. When I click on the "comment" area, it just keeps taking me back to my page or when I click on your name, it takes me to your web site and I still can't see any emails that you've sent me.

But anyway, just wanted to let you know that my son surprised the heck out of me. I had returned from a business meeting Monday night and was in the process of taking out the garbage when I heard someone say, "'bout time you got home". Lo and behold, I turned and he was standing there. He drove a rental from San Diego to visit with me while he had some leave time. Has to go back on 5 Oct.

If you could, and perhaps pass this along to the other moms as well, he's looking for a vehicle, something comparable to a lincoln or buick that has a lot of leg room. He's '6 4" and needs to room up front for his legs. No trucks please. If you know of someone in Tucson or San Diego, have them send me an email at: mary.avery@dm.af.mil, and I can pass the info along to him. Thanks

Hearing their voices help! I am holding on only because he says he is happy. As his mother you know our love for them is unconditional.

You have expressed exactly how I feel. I hope your dream will come true. I know how every minute shared with them is so valuable. I entertain myself with family albums and brief videos in my cell phone just to hear his voice again when I am feeling down.

Hello Lisa:

It is very hard being away for so many years from my son. He brings so much happiness and love to my life that without him there is a void.

Thank you for the comment.

Thanks Lisa! Yep, I sent Donna a message letting her know about my son. I'm glad to be in touch with people who have kids on the same ship!

Hello Lisa, Sorry it has taken me awhile to respond. I have been so busy with other things, that this page is unfortunately the last one that I looked at. My daughter, Lauryl is an AO. She is still in Pensacola completely her training. She should be done by Thanksgiving and after that, I am not sure if they are going to send her to San Diego or Mississippi. She seems to have adjusted well to being off on her own. I can not wait until the 20th, she is supposed to be coming home then. I will look like a kid at Christmas, grinning ear to ear.

Hi Again Lisa, My son went in the DEP program last October but had been talking and working out with the recruiter since June '07 he didn't actually go to boot camp until April 2nd 2008. At first we thought he would be going to San Diego to wait for the ship also, but when he picked his orders it was for him to go to Mississippi and be on board when they sail to San Diego. He said he thinks he will be doing some painting and other things that need to be done - don't know what that has to do with air traffic control, but as long as he's happy I'm happy. He'll be closer too, for a while, than if he went straight to San Diego although I'm not sure that really matters, we planned to go visit him two different times in Pensacola and the first time Hurricane Gustav was threatening them and the second time we had wind damage from Hurricane Ike and had to wait for the insurance people and the contractor to come to terms on the damage, but at least I feel like if he's in Mississippi I could go to visit whether it ever happens or not - San Diego would be more of a vacation than a weekend trip. Have you been to visit? Does he like San Diego? Wasn't it tough letting them go, it does get easier when you know they've picked the best path for themselves and I reallly feel that Thomas has done what was right for him. Is it getting cold in KS we had our first frost here in Ohio last night and it's supposed to get pretty cold again tonight but then warm up a little. I was raised in Ohio but lived in Tampa, Florida for most of my adult life - this will be my second winter here and it's taking me some time to get used it. Take Care and Keep in Touch. Laurie
