Hi Lorraine - Wow, it's been a while....
How's E?
Spence is now in SD & married his girlfriend from HS. He's enjoying married life & loving SD. He's also training for RS for his ship. Kind of an addition to his firefighting/DC (like that's not dangerous enough...urrggghhh) We're hoping to be able to go see him b4 Christmas, so I've been working a lot & trying to save up. I don't think he'll be going anywhere until after the first of the year.
Hope u r doing well - been thinking of u & E.
take care

Hey..it was nice to here from you. I think my son spoke of Eric during BC. Chris made it down to Pensacola where is was to be 5 months waiting for Aircrew. He had tendonitis in BC and it reared its head again, so they booted him from Rescue Swimmer. Seems they must be perfect at all times. He is very disappointed and has now to go undesignated though they have told him he can get back to RS in 12-18 months. I don't think he will though, he is pretty disappointed and frustrated with the Navy right now and he's been told if he goes back to RS he will have to extend his contract an additional year or two (above the 6 he already has) and at this point he just wants to get through it and get out..LOL But, you just never know...minds change! So Eric got stuck in Great Lakes? Man, I would that--although it will be getting warmer up there soon. Chris said (aside from the weather) Chicago was preferable due to the mass transit which gave them more ability to get around..hard to do that in Pensacola and the Taxis charge outrageous amounts down there. Well, I'm sorry to hear that he lost out on RS..assure him he isn't alone! Perhaps he will got back..then again he may end up enjoying what he is doing.
Lorraine---wondering if you have heard from Eric about orders to move on to pensacola? Chris is rescue swimmer also and as of Saturday he had no idea when they would be able to get down to Florida. Has Eric heard anything?
Hi Lorraine, Just curious what division your son is in. Glad you found us and hope to meet you on the 22nd and/or 23rd. All N4M moms will be wearing tourquise ribbons so be sure to have one on your shirt and outer jacket.
my husband is also headed to pensacola for aviation electronics... we are on the same travel schedule as you... but we leave @ 12 and have a direct flight to o'hara...
i see you live in Pueblo. I also live in Pueblo. My son has been in for a year now. He is an AO and is stationed in Washington. On a island call Whigbey. Heads up if he just went in and is in basic you won't get to talk to him a lot. My son had just gotten married when he went in so he would call his wife, so i just waited for the letters to come. He wrote about every other week. so hang in there. It does get better.
Hi Lorraine!! Welcome!
I'm in the Springs - my son had PIR 9/26 & is in school in GL for damage control.
I hope you get Eric's address soon & I'd be happy to drop him a note of encouragement. Kinda "freaks" them out when they get a note/card from another mom who cares - just let me know by PM if you do...
Take care! Hooyah!

Lorraine:
Do you have an address yet? Eric's recruiter should have one by now. I had to call Aaron's. I think crying is one of the main things mom's do with son's and daughter's in boot camp. It is such a hard time for everyone. BUT your recruit is getting excellent skills to be an outstanding Sailor!! Hope that helps-
Kathy
Call Eric's recruiter. They should be able to get an address for you. If not they will be able to tell you when he should have an address. You should be getting "The Box" in the mail shortly. It will be everything he was wearing and any thing he took with him that they don't want him to have. Be prepared when you get it. I remember it kind of freaked me out. It took me a couple of days to deal with it. I opened it and cried. It was everything I saw him in last. I just want to prepare you for it. Once I got over myself I washed up his clothes and started a box of things I wanted to take to him at his graduation (PIR). You will also be getting a form letter shortly. It will tell you all the rules for contacting them during bootcamp. He will be albe to write a few lines at the bottom of the letter. He will hopefully be able to call in a few weeks. All the divisions are different. It depends on how they are doing and when the RDC's (drill instructors) want them to call. Remember no news is good news.
I also recommend to start writing him everyday. It doesnt have to be a long letter. I wrote everyday and I can't tell you how many times my son thanked me when we saw him for PIR. It is a great feeling for them when they have had a crummy day and their name is called for mail call. You can send him a few photos also. That will be a welcome sight for him. Remember they all have to be approved by the RDC. Let me know when you have an address and what division he is in.
