Profile Information

About me:
I am a mom of three, two of who are married and on their own. My youngest son, age 20 this May, has decided to join the Navy after spending a year in university. I am a single mom, looking for support as my son and I go through the enlistment process.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
This journey has been a lot of waiting and seeing. Patience is a key. The more your son or daughter knows in preparing to enlist the better off they are. Knowing what to ask and how to approach the process really helps. Being there as a parent to listen to your child and keep an open line of communication between yourself and them is important.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

No no There are no needs for thank yous. :) We like to think of it like any other job and any other day with travel opportunities. You must be excited for your son. I too have 3 kids but they are little. Joining groups like these will help you from going crazy and will help pass the time. I find comfort on site like these because everyone here knows what youre going through and how you feel. Over the past 5 yrs my husband has been in the Navy I find alot of people don't even know what the Navy is. I think thats kind of odd. Anyways welcome.

Thank you for your welcomes. My son, Brett, is still awaiting his call to go to MEPS. So, once that happens, maybe we will have a better idea as to what he will be doing and when he will be leaving for Illinois. It has been a slow process.
