Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Just how much my son means to me and how proud I am of him and the love that I have for him and my other three children.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

His Ship has come in.........LOL, August of 2006 I think

My son is actually in this "Dress to the Rails" picture, he is standing behind the little girl that is crouched down on the deck. She must have participated in what I think is called the Tiger cruise.

Lucie, I did get your message this time. I really like your web page. It really is a wonderful act of sharing. I haven't put together a site of photos as things here have been so busy esp. now since my husband was in a serious ski accident. He has a bad concussion as well as torn muscles in his back and dominant arm as well as his shoulder. He is at home; you must know how "men" handle illness and/or injury! He was taken by ambulance to this sub-standard hospital that obviously works on volume instead of good patient care. They didn't even put ice on his shoulder...I was furious although now it is "old business". I worked in the medical field for over 30 years, "retiring " when I became disabled due to a car accident. So, I may be over critical. People say that the problem with health care is all financial yet the changes in good medical care seems to have tanked out! Well, I will say bye for now as I have a million things to do and with my own restrictions, I take longer to do alot of things. Have only heard from Will (a quick e-mail) once so he must be very busy. I won't be telling him about his Dad....he doesn't need to be concerned over something he can't control! And, he would be upset if he knew! Thanks for"listening". Keeping you, your whole family, esp your son in my thoughts and prayers.

Welcome Lucie,
I have found this site very helpful as my son is serving in Afghanistan. It is very hard to have a family member far away for a long period of time. I have received so much support from other Navy Moms. They understand the feeling and people who don't have that experience can't possibly understand what it is truly like. it is so very hard. My hope for you is to use this site and gain and give the support so badly needed for all of us! Feel free to comunicate with me anytime.

Hi Lucie, I am a second grade teacher in Texas. I have a request:

Our postcard project is going great, but we don't have any from New Hampshire! We got wonderful information and postcards from North Dakaota, the kids(students) want to take a hunting trip...LOL! We also got cards from Maine, Rhode Island, etc. It's great! Navyformoms is great! If you would like to help out with our project please visit my classroom website: http://www.myteacherpages.com/webpages/VWood/ Delete Comment

Graduation was Great! I was so excited to see him. We had a great time. He called this morning to let me know he was on his way to the airport. He said he will call me when he gets there. He has really grown in so many ways.

Lucie, wanted to comment on your frustration about no email. While I can't answer why the email access was taken away, the only scenario I can come up with is someone in his division was doing something wrong (OPSEC, visiting sites not allowed, causing some kind of computer problem with the server) I want to let you know you can still write regular letters to him via mail. I know it takes a while to get to him, but computer and internet access are a pretty new concept to Navy Ships. Used to be the only way you could keep in touch with your loved ones on a ship were regular letters. You used to have to number your letters so the person reading would read them in order. Hopefully the access will be restored and you can again establish contact. I am sure there is a reason behind no access. I hope I helped and if you need anything else, contact me, I am in Maine so you are pretty close.

Hi Lucie,
Thanks for adding me to your friends list. Wow, you're actually not that far from me! The Blue Star Mom's, NH Chapter is a great non-profit organization that gets me thru my son's Navy career by helping other military families, etc. You can get more information on this site: http://www.geocities.com/bluestarmothersofnh. My youngest son has even learned how to sew holiday stockings for the troops! Our whole family is involved in the BSM. Give the link a try. If you have anymore questions, send me a line or two....

So where is your son stationed? How long has he been in? I see that he's aboard the USS Peleliu...never heard of it I'm afraid, what type of ship is it and what does he do on the ship?
My son has been in since 8/05. He's an OS3 and he's on the USS Iwo Jima. They are out to sea right now - until Friday (a month total) conducting trials for their upcoming deployment this Aug. He's been to one deployment already, as I see your son has also from the pictures that look very familiar! Tell me about him and what he's doing for the Navy.

Lucie, Check out the blog that Martha wrote on 5/7 titled "let them hear your voice for free". Maybe you can do and Peter can do this for Garrett. :)
