Just got an email from my son. Can you believe that those pure guys are going through another storm? Is this like the 3rd one since they left?

my son emailed me and told me that he received the package i sent on Oct 6. I was quite surprised because usually when they are out to sea it takes about 3 weeks.

I talked to my son last night. They will be in yokosuka for a couple more days and then they are off again. It looks like they will return right before the holidays.

Scratch Verny Park, I forgot ... that's where the protesters gather. They might show up for the GW, and while they're polite, it may not be a Good Idea to be in the same place at the same time.

There is also another park on the other side of the base, Verny Park. Ten minutes by foot from the gate... but again, I don't know if you'll be able to see the carrier dock from that angle or not. I think not, if they dock where the other carriers did in the past.

Kannonzaki, yeah, that's up on a hill (lighthouse). I never did get up there in 12 years! You have to take a bus to get there, but it isn't difficult.

I'll try to get in touch with my retired friends who stayed in Yokosuka. They;re not often online, but I wonder if one of them could get time off from work to bring you on base. maybe, but a long shot.

I'd have to see a current map for Yokosuka, they change the shoreline all the time. Off the top of my head, I'd say Mikasa Park, which is near the base and on the water.
