Absolutely, there are military, especially Navy, LDS in the whole Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach area. I lived there most of my life, and attended several different wards in the area. Most recently, which was from 2000-2003, I lived in Green ...

This is amazing, and very alarming. I'm sending this to my family and friends. We certainly don't want to inadvertently endanger any of our military men and women. This is a powerful message. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with you about Facebook. I put the Status Update application on my profile, to link with my Facebook profile, then realized that Facebook uses my real name, my whole real name. So, I won't link it here.

Hang in there, Suzanne. I know it's tough, but it will be so worth the struggle. He has such a bright future ahead of him with the Navy. It was the best thing that ever happened to my son. He's been in for 14 years now, has had wonderful opportuni...

About me:
At one time, I was a Navy wife. Now I'm a proud Navy Mom. In addition to my sailor son, I have three more sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren.

I was born in Wisconsin, raised in Illinois, but spent most of my adult life in Virginia. I moved to Arkansas 5 years ago, with my younger daughter and her family. It's been a good move, and though I miss my family back in VA, and I miss the ocean, life in a Navy town, and even the roar of Navy jets overhead, I'm glad I came here.
I am here to support or represent my:

It's coming back!

The funniest thing happened at work on Monday. I was on the phone, talking to a customer, and he asked me something, about a rumor he'd heard on the news, regarding the mortgage bailout (I work in the industry, in customer service). As I was answering his questions, I suddenly reverted back to the old Navy slang, and told him I didn't know much more than he did. He asked me something else, and I said, "Well, that's the scuttlebutt I've heard. " I can only imagine the consternation and confusion… Continue

Feeling Nostalgic

It's a funny thing, but since I joined NavyforMoms, just a couple of days ago, I've been in a misty-eyed nostalgic mood. Even now, as I write this, I have tears in my eyes, thinking about the good times, and the bad, that made up the years of my young adulthood, as a Navy wife. I've always been a sentimental softy, anyway, but it seems as I get older, and further along into my golden years, I'm getting worse. I'm not trying to idealize anything about that time, but I think I will always have a s… Continue

Something Dear to My Heart

This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I just read about this web site in the February 2009 issue of Family Circle Magazine, and I was intrigued by the advertisement. I was interested in the idea of finding a way to really support the troops, and their families. This is something I've always cared about. My years as a young, scared, inexperienced, overly-dependent Navy wife, while some of the hardest times of my life, were also some of the most rewarding times of my life. I'd like… Continue

Hi! I was wondering if there were LDS Navy moms. My little boy just started boot camp on Monday. I have found much comfort in this website. I feel i will find comfort here as well. Our son is the first to be in the forces for 2 generations. We are proud of him. Go Navy!
I am excited to participate in the Blue candle Lighting event.

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings
