My name is Maria, I am 46 I have three children ages 28, 24, and 20.. I am a Grandmother to 3 with one on the way. I am a Christian and believe that the Lord not only hears our prayers but answers them too.
I play guitar, paint and do crafts when I have time.
I am here to support or represent my:
Mookie (John)
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Said “No way!”
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Is not to be to emotional around my son. He needs to know that everything here on the home front is good. This way he can concentrate on the things he needs to in Afganistian......
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was the worst decision he/she could have made
sure do. I have a Marine. And a Corpsmen. My Marine just finished a month ago. And My Corpsmen is going to be deployed in January. For the first time. You never get used to it!:>
Maria, Yes, they are all so young. Mikey turned 22 yrs. old this past summer. How old is your son? Mikey has been in Afghanistan since August 2nd. Is it the 3rd Marine div. your son is in? The marines love their " Doc". They will take very good care of him. They are wonderful heroes, each and every one of them. Please do keep in touch. If you need any ideas on what to send for care packages I have a list that I use for my son. I will gladly share. Take care my friend. Like I said before, drop me a line anytime. Janice
Maria, How are you doing? So anytime you want to talk please look me up. My son, Mikey is a FMF Medical Corpsman in Afghanistan. I know what you are going through. I will keep your son in my thoughts and prayers.
Oh wow Maria, I can't even imagine what you are going through. I know I would be a wreck. I have been reassured that they are well taken care of. But I still have that same worry I know you are going through right now. I will pray for you . Please keep me informed of how he is doing. My Sky doesn't graduate until January from A shool, then he will find out if he does FMT or C school. I will diffently pray for you baby.
My goodness I will keep praying for you son. I really hope he will be ok. I know what you mean. Nobody seams to miss Sky as much as I do and what makes me really mad is how nobody is taking this as serious as they should. Yes our boys are going to war. Nobody wants to talk about around me and they just make really light of it.. Like Im over exsagerating I really makes me made how light people make of our pain that we go through when we think of what our sons can be facing. I have meet one mom in my area. Her son is on a aircraft carrier and we are having coffee this Saturday. Molly acctually, she is from this web site. Sky is being recommended for an education petty officer. Did you son go to C school or just straight to FMT??? It really is weird how nobody around me seems to understand what Im going through. Even my closest friends are very hush, hush when it comes to Sky being a corpsman, and nobody ever talks about all the solders that are at war and the ones KIA. Its just very wierd.
I know, I wish I had been there when he picked the job he was going to do, he could have been an inventory clerk, so... much safer, but not to exciting. What kills me is I can't be there to protect my baby. I would go there with him if I could with gun and all . But reality, I have to let him grow up and be a man. but it is so hard knowing what they are facing. I here the fear or unknown in his voice and it kills me. They are going to be fine, this is the greatest Navy in the world, right!!!!. If I knew how I would add you as a friend so we can talk. I think my son is right behind yours, he is in A school but is telling me he has to do FMM training . I don't even know if that is right. Is that what your son did.
Maria, Im right there with you, my son was talking to Marines and I said no way. Then he said how about Navy. I was so excited, they don' t see combat. Wrong!!!!! He picks the one position that will put him with the Marines. I will pray for your son and for mine .
I have heard they will be well protected.
Hi Maria,
I hope you are starting to feel better. This site is a great support spot for all our fears and anxiety. There is always someone else who is going throuh the same thing. I like to tell myself that life is dangerous and all we can do is pray and trust that all will be well. The way my son drives, I think he must be safer underwater than on the road at home.
Take care, Lynn
Hi Maria, looks great. :-) It's fine to let people know you are missing your "Mookie" on his bday too. :) Moms here love to post bday greetings. If you do it ahead of time as a blog on your page, you can print it out and send it to him. He'll be encouraged knowing so many Moms are praying for him and are grateful for his service and care of others. =) Those birthdays and holidays are tough days for any mom! Take Care. Navy Mom ((Hugs)) to you today!! Oh, here's the Group I mentioned earlier:
