Mark,
thanks again for all of your words of wisdom. All I can say is thanks, it really means a lot to me to hear what you have to say!

Thanks so much Mark, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and honesty. I know most of that in my head. It is just my heart that keeps breaking. I know you are right about everything and I have even told him in the letters that this 8 weeks is a very short part of his life. You know us women - overemotional is probably not a strong enough adjective!! When is PIR for you?

Hi Mark, welcome aboard N4Ms, we love our Navy Dads! I just had to say to one named "Mark", go to my page, you'll see why. :) Two suggestions though, there is already a Navy Dad named Mark on sight, two I think. Your last name distinguishes you from them, but we highly discourage the use of last names on sight for your protection and that of your Sailors, especially if he shares the same-OPSEC rules prohibit the posting of a Sailors' last name on these public site pages. Just thought you'd want to know. So, add something to your first name that cleverly distinguishes you, like "Erin's proud pop", or "Div ***" or her "(rating) Dad", what ever you like.

Now, I also suggest that you get busy joining some N4M Groups to become more connected and informed! First one is Boot Camp Moms, next Navy Moms of Daughters, next, use your search box or look through the Group forums for Groups from your State (you can met other Navy parents near you-there are often local events planned these days-watch the Events calendar to the right too) and for your daughter's Rating/job. What will she be doing in the Navy? When she graduates from BC, and heads to "A"school, there is the "A" school Moms Group and probably a discussion for her specific A school on there as well.

Finally, last but not least, there is navydads.com. That was started by one of our N4Ms Dads, sometimes the drama and detail here can get to be a bit much (though the info and support is second to none!) and the Dads like to break off and discuss just the facts, share their perspective, man to man or just talk football or something! Probably a lot of that going on there this week. :-) There are Groups there for some of the things I mentioned above too. Have fun learning and meeting many wonderful Navy moms and Dads. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer. Enjoy the journey! God Bless. 8-)

My son is in Div 094, how about yours? He will be going to A school in Pensacola, he will be an airman, his specialty is Aviation Technician/Computers. I think he is tolerating the cold because he has to, he is originally from Texas but has my English blood, so may be better than some. He will go from GL to Pensacola directly, no visit home.

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Hi Mark,
Welcome Aboard!! Please tell us a little about your son. When did Erin leave for bootcamp (BC) and what will his job be? Please feel free to ask anything here...there is no such thing as a dumb question. Someone will have an answer for you. If you haven't already, join the group "Boot Camp Moms". They are an awesome group of people who have or are going thru the same as you and we are all here to support one another. You will also be a great help with your insight as a Dad of a Recruit..something we seldom have..but will greatly appreciate. All are welcome here regardless of gender!
