About me:
I have two sons - Chris is my youngest and is about to graduate from boot camp. Hooray! Joe is 27 and living in Pittsburgh, PA, but he'll be there, too for the graduation ceremony! Now I'm mom to 2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 bettas, and several guppies. I work full time at the Sheriff's Office. I'm so proud of Chris that I'm squiggling!
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
They will make a man of Chris.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Martha! It has been awhile I know. Just wanted to stop in and say Hi and see how you were doing? And to see how Chris was doing?! I have started a group called Good Ol' 3/20/09 The web address is http://www.navyformoms.com/group/goodol32009 I am just trying to get all our friends that graduated that day together and to invite new friends as well. Just to keep in contact about our sailors and to just be there for each other. Its a fun relaxed atmosphere and we would love to have you join us! Hope to hear from you soon!!

Hi Martha...thought I'd give you an update on us. Alicia has been removed from the nuke program. =( During inbriefing last week they all did psych evals, and long-story-short, they determined she has issues with anxiety and so they removed her before she even got started. They evidently started doing this about 4 months ago, in conjunction with budget cuts Obama ordered. It's pretty dissappointing for her, and she's been very mad. But, I think she's starting to calm down about it. She's working in INDOC for the Commander, and we are hoping she can get Corpman. It'll be a couple weeks yet before she can be reclassified. It's what she first looked into in the Navy anyway! Wouldn't that be just like God to pick her up out of nuke and drop her into HM, her original interest. Sure appreicate your prayers for her and her reclassification. And, her and her bf are having issues (he's feeling pretty lonely and keeps smothering her with texts/vms and she's getting very annoyed by them.) I think she's just very stressed and upset about her circumstances, and Aaron is an easy target. Isn't that the way of it?

Anyway, how is Chris doing?? How did his first week go? Take care, and HAppy Easter!! God bless you!

Hi Martha, Hope you are doing well! How is your son adjusting to A school? Wes seems to be doing great! I just wanted to let you know that we put a chat box feature on the PIR 3/20 site. It is alot easier than having to refresh all the time. Come join us sometime. Take Care, Patty

Hi everyone. I'm back. I've been focusing on the Facebook, since Chris and Alyssa are on there most of the time when they get a free moment. It was WONDERFUL to see the graduation ceremony - he's so tall and handsome and seems so confident and with purpose. I had both sons there - a momma's dream come true!!!

Hi! It was funny yesterday when Alicia called me and Chris was on the phone with you...We keep closing the loop! Sounds like 6 went to GC together, 4 guys and 2 girls. Saw that Alicia was on Facebook today, so musta found some bank of computers she had access to. in any case, it was pretty cool to get on there and have a notification that Alicia updated her status! It's almost like she's just up in her room! LOL

How are you?? Doesn't look like you've been on since you got back. Are you ok? I'm praying for you. Have a blessed week.

Martha, Been thinking of you all weekend. Hope it was wonderful! Can't wait to hear all about it. It will be fun to talk and catch up and keep up with Goose Creek news and all. Grady has been there 6 days already. So far just alot of fun and adjusting in. He thinks its great, however school won't start for another week or more. Grady is ET, remind me what Chris is? Looking forward to keeping in touch, Janie

Hi Martha. So nice to meet you at PIR!! So, how was your weekend? Ours has been really wonderful. We are still here now until tomorrow night; we leave at 5pm for Spokane. The kids are all hanging out together, and we have to take Alicia back at 6:30. If she's not there 30 minutes before report-time she freaks out! Definitely well trained! lol So, I have to say goodbye again in an hour, and I'm already crying about it. glad the kids are all someplace else... My heart hurts at the realization that I won't see her in person again for so long. I'm very grateful though for the cell phone I can mail her and skype! Don't know if she can have those things right away or not, but I'll ask Shelli (nuke) if I can.
Good luck, my Navy Mom Nuke friend, on returning home and back to the routine! Very best of luck to Chris (and Alicia) as they start this next journey. BTW- her orders say that she has a 2 week break beginning 7/24. So...I would assume Chris does too??? She's MM. God bless!!!

Hi Martha - I saw your comment on NukeMoms - Enjoy PIR!!! My son Aaron graduated 2/27 and is now in Goose Creek waiting for more to show so that he can class up.... He just barely missed classing up this week - he was one of 4 ( luck of the draw I think) that didn't class up. What rating is Chris? Aaron is ET. He is liking SC so far - much different than MT! I love that we have more contact with him - so much nicer than in BC.

Hey Martha! How was Chris? Well, I hope. We are flying out at 6pm tomorrow. We are staying at the Days Inn at Great Lakes. I am so proud and am planning to bring a ton of tissue 'cuz I know I am going to be a hot mess. I used to cry when I watched my daughter with her marching band!
I'm looking forward to meeting you too. Have a safe trip. Laura
