We are new Navy parents. Our son left for boot camp September 19. He is our youngest child. Our sailor graduated from bc on 11-14-08. He is in aviation electronics. He graduated from A school in June 09 and is now assigned to the NAS Lemoore, California as an ATO. He will report there on July 27. He is assigned to the Rough Raideers Squadron working on F 18's.
I am here to support or represent my:

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
He is the Navy's first and mine second.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

It's been a year......

Today it has been a year since Justin left for boot camp. What a year it has been! He is now at NAS Lemoore........via GL and ATT in GL and then Pensacola and now on to Lemoore. It has been fun and exciting to see him mature and learn so much. He seems to really be happy with his choices and I am SO glad. What a ride.

I did light the blue candle for him today and sent him a picture of it to his phone. Proud Navy mom and dad

Eric is still in the 125, but has new orders for Guantanamo Bay in Feb. He is going to drive his truck home at Christmas so he can leave it here. He has done alot of off road work to it, so If your son was driving, I was thinking maybe they could atlaeast follow or keep in touch along the way.

Hi Martha,
Yes, Eric is still in Lemoore, but only until Christmas time. He received orders today to move on as IA at another base. Hope all goes well with your son.

Tell Justin that if he gets to know us, he'll join my two sons and complain about this hovering helicopter mom (me). LOL. I know that complain but a helicopter mom is quite handy when in need.
What is Justin doing for Thanksgiving? Our sailor will still be out in the middle of the Pacific. Our younger son has not decided whether he wants to fly home for the four days. So it's just hubby and me. If Justin in staying in CA and can get away .....

Dear Martha & Alan,
Our son graduated from college with a degree in Electrical Engineering and went to Officer Candidate School in Dec 2006. When we were in Pensacola for his OCS graduation, my husband made the observation that the young men/women who looked like they were all part of the aviation sector all looked exceeding confident and all walked with a purposeful stride. Our son is a nuke officer on a sub, currently out somewhere in the Pacific on deployment.
My husband grew up in an area off Memorial Drive. I am not sure where it is. I have never been to Houston - in Calif all my life.
Please join the Northern California Navy Moms group. Click HERE. Post a comment and introduce yourself, let everyone know that you have a son at Lemoore. There may also be a group for Central Valley of CA.
The North Cal group had 171 members. Very active, supportive and informative. You'll find that Justin needs anything - there will be moms around to help.
Lemoore is not exactly in my backyard but reachable by car in less than 3 hours. Have you told your son that you are developing a support system for him? If he is anything like my son, he'll say "Oh, Mom! I don't need it." but it's nice to know that it is there.

Santa Clara County is two counties south of San Francisco (first one being San Mateo). The northern most tip is the City of Palo Alto (Stanford Area) and the southern most tip is Gilroy/Morgan Hill area. San Jose is the largest city in the County. Lemoore is in Kings County (Central Valley - center of the state. I am north/west of Lemoore by 150 to 160 miles. Lemoore is sort of between the San Francisco/San Jose Area and the Los Angeles Area but inland.
CLICK HERE for google map. I live 15-20 minutes of the San Jose Airport and 30-35 minutes of the San Francisco Airport. CA and TX are both big states. Where are you in TX? Did I tell you already that my husband grew up in Houston?
