That is a very interesting question, where do they all go? At the same time you just have to be proud that we have young men and women who are willing to serve their country. After seeing the violence here at home I am glad my son is doing something…

Hi, Mary! I'm so sorry for the confusion about the Westies dinner! We always meet on third Mondays... which for December was this past Monday night. You RSVP'd on the dinner for JANUARY 18, which will be at Olive Garden. We'd love to see you there! If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or leave a post on my page. Hugs and happy holidays! k.

This time my short note went, I noticed, so I'll send a short version of my previous one that didn't. I was just saying that I realized after I left the note on Indiana Moms that you are the same Mary from Stilesville that I talked to in July. Also, I sent a friend request; I like the "friend concept" because you can send personal emails to one friend or all of them. I have a friend whose son is at the same college as Mary, and we communicate back and forth about our kids and the college, info that others probably wouldn't be that interested in. Anyway, I look forward to meeting you in person Monday night! Have a great weekend!!

I just tried to send a message to your comment wall, and I don't think it went through. I'll see you Monday!

Thanks for your note, Mary. My mom had cousins who lived on a farm in Monrovia. I remember as a child going and spending the weekend once in a while. It sounds like your son has quite an interesting job, and I'm sure you like the fact that you have a chance to talk with him, but you're right; it isn't the same. I know that last year, even though I heard from Mary often, it was tough not seeing her and being able to give her a hug.

I hope you enjoy your visit with your son; if you don't get back in time for the dinner on the 20th, I think there's one in August. Talk to you soon!

Hi Mary! I just read your post on Indiana Moms, and you are so correct. We know who the real heroes are! I notice you are from Stilesville. I grew up west of Danville, and my parents and I used to go to a restaurant in Stilesville (can't remember the name of it). My husband and I live on the west side of Indianapolis (Ben Davis area), and our daughter will be a sophomore at Texas A&M University in Galveston. She is in the NROTC program, and she just returned from the summer naval cruise in Norfolk. Her name is Mary, so when I saw your post, I just had to check out your profile page. She is coming with me to the "Westies" N4M dinner at Olive Garden on July 20th. It would be great to meet you and find out what is happening in Stilesville these days. I would also like to know more about your family; I'm sure you'll be glad to see your son. I hope you have a great Fourth of July; I'm one of the fortunate moms who has her "baby" home this holiday. The fact that she is an only child has also made my husband and me emptynesters sooner than I would have liked; I guess I'm also fortunate to be a teacher--I'm never without "my children" during the school year! God bless!

Hi Mary,
Congratulations...You must be so happy right now...

My son graduates (God Willing) Friday the 15th of May. I am very nervous. I don't know what to expect as far as this week is concerned. Did your son tell you about Battle Stations? Mine does these this week on the 7th and 8th and that has me so worked up. Any bit of info helps...Thank you so much.
