Hi! I actually live in La Farge--not that far from you. I work at Ft. McCoy. My son is on the USS Freedom-currently based in Norfolk but will eventually will be out of San Diego. Eric has been in the Navy since 1991. I don't get to talk to him near as much as I would like but have learned to accept that they keep him pretty busy. Write anytime--just know that I am unable to access this site at work and don't always get a chance to get on when I am home.. Glad to meet you!

Today is a sad day, Steven gets deployed for at least 6 months. He says not to worry but I know he is just trying to calm me. I'm a United States Navy Mom and it's my job to worry about him. I suppose the sooner he gets going the sooner he gets home. This is my first time having him deployed so it could get interesting.

Thank you to all that welcome me. I am very excited because my sailor is finally coming home for a visit this saturday. I want to scream it to the world but he doesn't want everyone to know so i have to keep it hush hush. I cant believe in just a few short days I will be able to put my arms around him.

Hi Mary, welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy since July 2007 and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz.. What is your son doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor. Pat

I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How to support my son although I couldn't be there everyday, that I am still needed in his life even if he is half way across the country and that sometimes the hardest things you have to do with your kids(saying good-bye when he headed to boot camp) are the best things you could ever do. I gave my son to the Navy as a boy who wasn't sure of his place in life and they gave me a young man who wants to excel in life
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
