Hello everyone. I am very sad to report that I will be leaving this group. Eric and I have separated, he no longer wants to be married to me. It is very painful and heartbreaking, especially as he refuses to consider counseling of any kind. My heart…

Eric wasn't expecting to advance either, his surprise was evident in the all caps email he sent. I can't wait to get my first email that says FC2 =) Does anyone know if they will have a way to get their new patches or will I need to get him some fr…

Congratulations to Austin as well! That is wonderful, I know you must be so proud.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to pop on and let you know that I heard from Eric last night. He advanced to E-5! I am so very proud of him. He has been in less than 2 years and this is his first time taking the test, so I wasn't really expecting it. No…

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It was nice to go home to SC for a few days. Had a wonderful visit, Barbara and her husband were even gracious enough to take my children for the night so I could have a little bit of a brea…

Mary, my condolences on your loss. I'm so sorry to hear about it. We have been doing ok here, just riding this deployment out, waiting for word that they are coming home. This weekend the kids and I are going to bake cookies for Eric's entire divis…

Eric said some of it was gross, and some of it sucked while it was happening but was great looking back. I laughed out loud reading his email. Some of it, like the singing, is just so out of character for Eric. Even he recognized it with a little "h…

LOL yeah we do Jackie. I told Eric that I think the shellback email is the longest email he has sent me since he's been gone. Sounds like it was crazy but they had a lot of fun. I was reading online how rare it is for an East Coast stationed ship to…

Every once in a while I google the ship to see if anything is in the news, and today I found this Lexie and I played "where's Eric" and actually think we caught a small glimpse of him in one of the videos, but that could just be wishful thinking.

Wow..All great ideas for care packages..The store on the ship was so tiny..It will help make it easier..Loved the one with seasonings as I always have a lot of those ..I remember what it was like when I wa sin Europe for 3 years..Loved it there but…

Yes, Any seasoning are great. I send a lot of care packages to the groups with Molly's Adopt a sailor and most of them really love when we send seasonings. Hot sauces are a biggie.

And don't send the dryer sheets with food either! If you do send dryer sheets in non-food boxes, put them in multiple zip lock bags (which can then be used for other things too.) Tell them to also save the used dryer sheets to wipe lint off of thing…

Jackie - EXCELLENT ideas in the Theme boxes! In the past, I've also sent the shaker jars of popcorn seasoning - it serves well to also be shaken on scrambled eggs or anything else to break the monotony of foods.

Hey Melissa,

How did the interview go? Good Luck! I finallly got an email from Austin the other day but nothing since then. He said they have just been floating around and patroling. Still waiting to hear when he gets his package, his sister put some funny stuff in there too, I'm sure he will get a good laugh when he opens it. I asked him if he know Eric but he said that he needs last names also. He said that he know Justin. Hope you get the job. ; )

Thanks. I guess 2 weeks is not that long to get some stuff to him. I hope it does not take much longer than that.

Austin said that they have been busy but that it was not too bad. He also said that it is very hot. Have a great day!

Thanks Melissa, those pictures are great. Thanks for sharing them. That was one of the hardest things is that we were not there to see him off. This is his first 6 month deployment he will be on the Donald Cook 2 years in Jan. Austin is a DC what division is your husband in? I have gotten a few emails from Austin, he is wanting me to send him a few things. Do you have any idea how often they get mail and how long does it take for them to get packages. Talk to you soon.

Jackie's son is an ET and recently joined the ship, Barbara's son is an FC and he also joined recently. They are great ladies and it is good that you will be able to connect with them before that ugly ole' deployment starts!
