Thanks for sharing the article. I sometimes think that those that support the military usually think of those overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq and don't think about all those serving in other countries as well as here in the states. I know that th...

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
You have to let go. Ok just a little. or at least we like to think we have. Though he is overseas I always tell him we are with him always. We (my husband & I) are proud of what he does, what he's trained to do and the strength and courage he has to do it.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience

19 Months

Thats how long its been since we've seen James in the flesh, put our arms around him. I have already let him know that when I see him (hoping for this summer) I'm going to squeeze him to death. his response to that was " I'll run I'd like my insides to stay on the inside lol "
But other than that all is well for James overseas. He looks good, tired sometimes but thats to be expected. Modern tech rocks!!!! Vonage, skype, computers, cell phones, emails, web cams just think how the families of the… Continue

OPSEC

Loose Lips Sink Ships or OPSEC

Operational Security, also known as OPSEC, is even more important today than in the past. In the simplest terms OPSEC is denying the “bad guys” information so that our military may complete their assignment. We now have more means of communication that may be “intercepted” than ever before. Cell phone conversations and internet/email transmissions need to be guarded.

Conversations on cell phones are very easy to monitor. Discussing leave, where a unit is l… Continue

So now for Christmas not only will he NOT be home… Continue

Hi Melissa, I'll have to show my daughter your son's picture and see if she recognizes him. She's been in indoc classes until week before last. She finally started her job last week. It truly is a small world.

17 months is a heck of a long time... is he deployed? He looks like one tough dude. Glad he is on our side. I pray for our sailors to be safe and be happy in their service. Thanks again.

Hey girl!!! Just wanted to thank you for creating this blog page. Jake has only been in the service since Oct 1 2008, been in GL, SA and now Rota. Quite alot for a 18 yr. old who would not even sleep away from home. The mom's of MA's have been VERY helpful and you are so special to have put us together, thanks again!

Hi Melissa, My daughter Stephanie is leaving for Sicily next week. She finished A school last week and is an MA. She's very excited and as happy as I am for her I'm also sad that she is leaving. She is my only child. But what an adventure she has ahead of her. In some ways I'm envious. I see that you are from Michigan too! Does your son like it over there so far? Maybe they will meet.
