As a group, we would like to adopt a group of sailors and send letters and/or packages. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want)

We're Back

Sorry to all of you that I haven't been on for a very long time. I personally have been going through some things, They're not over yet but I feel much better about my decisions now. Heather has had her own issues too so we got through hers together and now with her help and the help of my other 2 daughters I am seeing the light of day on my own.
Heather has broken up with her fiancee and I have seen a big change in her. More of a social thing. Instead of staying in the barracks and not going ou… Continue

On Her Ship

So Heather has been on the USS Ashland for a couple of months and to me it seems like forever. I can't imagine what it feels like for her. She lived on board until just a week ago or so when she moved to the barracks. She likes living there and says it is pretty nice. But then again she didn't mind living on board either. She enjoyed being rocked to sleep by the waves.
She started out on the flight deck which is a lot of hard work. She really enjoyed being hooked up in a harness and going over t… Continue

A Christmas Poem

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,

HE LIVED ALL ALONE,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF

PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY

WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,

AND TO SEE JUST WHO

IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,

A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,

NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,

JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,

ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES

OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,

AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

A SOBER THOUGHT

CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOU… Continue

Merry Christmas

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentmen… Continue

She Is So Strong

I am even more proud of my daughter than before. I didn't think that was possible but she continues to amaze me. She has had such a hard time a A school trying to qualify for the M16 and shotgun. What was the problem? She may be right handed but she is left eye dominant. What this means is she should have been training to shoot left handed. Did they train her to shoot left handed...NO. The explanation given is it is difficult to train someone to shoot left handed. She was actually told that yes,… Continue

Molly, Chatham is just 4 miles south of Springfield. I like it because it is close enough to the city to do major shopping but far enough to be in the country. My husband on the other hand would rather have a piece of land that you would have to take a lunch with you just to get to the mail box...lol
