I am so happy for you. Even though we are proud of what they are doing, it is always a worry! God Bless!

Got the best news in the world today (as long as the military doesn't change it's mind for some reason, and we all know how that can go....)!!!! It looks like the pullout is progressing as expected and he will be home from the sandbox earlier than...

I remember my husband having trouble of this sort in the Vietnam era. My daughter experienced it in boot camp. The fact is, as in any large group, not every person is of the same sterling quality as our own dear children. :)

I have been following this carefully as well as all the information about re-enlistment options for HM's. I have asked my son repeatedly if he has started working on this as Sept. will be the first month of his final year of enlistment. He made th...

Well, it's little comfort to know that so many others are experiencing the same things my son has. I guess the long and short of it is that nothing they take with them is safe, locked up or not. It really saddens me to know how pervasive this is a...

Theft is and always has been a fact of life in the Navy. Even my dad who is a WWII vet had thieves on his ship. I had all my electronics engraved, making them hard to hock. These days you can buy anti-theft tracking devices for things such as lapt...

I'm glad you posted this! I didn't know that was a problem. I will certainly tell my son to keep his "toys" locked up! He plans on taking all of his electronics to A school with him

That is horrible. I agree with Paula; maybe his next tech purchase should be something like a safe. I wish they would squash that.

Yep... happened to my daughter in A School Pensacola. We would all like to think that ALL of our sailors, soldiers and marines adhere to the strickest code of ethics, but then reality sets in and it become evident that "streetwise" high school men...

Will someone please tell me what kind of soldier/sailor/marine steals from his brothers in arms? As if it isn't hard enough having your son or daughter half way around the world or in a war zone (as my son is), I am so tired of having him call hom...

Profile Information

About me:
My name is Chris, but to my kids and their friends on MySpace and Facebook, I'm "MomSho". I never thought I would spend this much time on the computer but since my son left home to join the Navy after his high school grad in 2005, I've become pretty "with it" I guess. My kids and all their friends have invited me to be on their "friends" lists. It really is a great way to stay involved in your kids lives; they put so much out there on the web!! Married to my husband 26 years this summer, and beside my sailor, he has a twin sister, Rachael, and an older sister Sarah who will be 25 this year. I am unofficially "retired" at this point in my life and am really glad to have that choice. It has allowed me to travel with my husband (his job has required much travel over the course of our life together), and it has really allowed me to focus on my home, family and friends. And now my little treasure, my grandson, Landon, as well. He wasn't "planned" but nonetheless, he has added joy to everyone's life. I am anxiously awaiting spring as I am into gardening and taking care of my yard. I love being outside and working in the dirt. Love good movies, most kinds of music (no rap or hip/hop, thank you!), love to read, love being on a warm beach with a cold margarita; love "Girls' Night Out" with friends, my husband and I are into hiking and when it all gets to be too much, I go for long walks. There is more I'm sure but that's it in a nutshell. I am so looking forward to getting to know many of you on this sight! Thanks for the warm welcome from all!
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That you really do have to let them go in every way, so they can learn to fly on their own
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Got the best news in the world today (as long as the military doesn't change it's mind for some reason, and we all know how that can go....)!!!! It looks like the pullout is progressing as expected and he will be home from the sandbox earlier than expected...His orders extended through September-October. He says it looks like he'll be home by the end of this month!!! That will certainly take some stress off at our end!!! Just wanted to share....and say thanks for the support over the months. Just Need To Vent

Will someone please tell me what kind of soldier/sailor/marine steals from his brothers in arms? As if it isn't hard enough having your son or daughter half way around the world or in a war zone (as my son is), I am so tired of having him call home only to tell me that someone has stolen his PSP or his IPod or whatever. This last time it was a $250 IPod touch that he was using as his PDA. It was taken right out of his room while he slept there!! Talk about bold... All his phone numbers, etc. wer… Continue

The Navy Times

Many of you may have seen it or know about it, but one of the most helpful things I've done since my son joined the Navy was to subscribe to the Navy Times. It's a weekly newspaper and has really provided a lot of good information about all sorts of things, from pay and allowances, to information on re-enlisting, education....all sorts of things. When I discuss some of the things I've read with my son, many times even he hasn't seen the information. I have the latest issue here that I will be se… Continue

Looking for Cool Downz Bandannas

Hi, Moms! Looking for some information. I am trying to locate these cooling bandannas for my son in Iraq. I have already been ripped off by one website who charged me for three of these in camo fabric and never delivered the product. Does anyone know a reliable source for these cooling bandannas that can supply them quickly and in camo colors? I'd appreciate any help or suggestions! Thanks.

could you let me know what company you purchased cooling ties? I think we could do better with commercial ones and I'd like to try to get in on that.
