First of all it was my first time in NY, and I was as excited as I have ever been cause I wanted to see all the sites..everything!!! but I had limited time we pulled in on 11/06/09 at about 8pm and checked into the New Yorker and it was a beautiful hotel but very small rooms. MY son is on the USS NEW YORK (LPD 21) and I am excited about the trip for him, I went to the official website of the commissioning and read about the ship, I seen lots of pictures of how they used 7.5 tons of the Twin Towers steel and welded it into her bow following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, TRULY AMAZING. My boy came home on Friday Aug 14th and we had a small dinner party for him, It was very nice all his friends and some family came. He leaves back out on the 30th for his duty station in NF Virgina.
