HI Mrs Pratt:
Congrats on your son the 2nd Class Petty Officer, and for getting the Surface Warfare Pin last year. That' s quite an accomplishment! He sounds very intelligent, and must be a wonderful Sailor. He looks very handsome in the dress blues. I haven't seen my son in them yet as he did not purchase the pictures at bc. I was very upset about this because I don't know when I'll ever get to take a picture of him in them again! Why do they have to have @ good watches??? What are the challenge coins like? Do you have any pictures of them?? Can you get them at teh NEX? My son sent me a Star and a Navy Mom decal, to put in the window-hwich I did already We are still working on getting his cell phone set up. Apparently Verizon will not activate his cell with a phone call-he has to go in person to a verizon store, and he's not sure where one is in Groton, Ct yet. Best Wishes to you and your Sailor-we are so Proud of all our boys! write soon, Vicki

Welcome to Navy for moms, here you will find moms who have or are feeling the same way you do, and asking the same questions you are. We have a few “ole timers” who have multiple kids in the armed service, their education and experience is invaluable.
If you haven't stopped by the how did you find us thread, please do. Many, many moms have been there and are doing the same thing. There are even a couple of us delayed entry moms kicking around. New Moms read first discussion will fill you in quick about those faqs
The general forum has some great comments on mail, boot camp, phone calls, graduation and hotels and things to do while in Chicago at PIR. Feel free to add to the comments, or create your own. The moms have an empty nest group and discussions that has been a great help too many, and they get a little silly sometimes
There are groups, on the main page on the left. Boot camp is really popular but there are other groups some based on graduation dates, jobs, states, ships and other interests. You will fit in anywhere you chose; we are a nice bunch here.
There is a search function at the top of the page, discussions are tagged and searching for topics is easy and user friendly.
Personalize your page, there you can share (or not) photo, your other interests. Share what you are comfortable sharing. Remember this is a public forum. There is an email function on the top, and an add friend feature. The message spot is here and to reply, hit the back at the bottom, and it will take you right to their page. There is a blog that you can use to share your feeling, thoughts, stories, art, everyday stuff or what not. If you need anything just asks.

Hi Mamma Pratt:
Hello and Welcome to N4M’s!
My name is Catherine the Admin and I’m glad you’ve joined us. As you start exploring you will see a great amount of chatter (IE: knowledge, support, advice, etc.) on our site (in our blogs, forums, and videos.) Before you add your point of view (POV) or ask questions, I want to share some ground rules with you. Here they are:
1) Please show respect at all times for all who belong to this community. (I like to say- Keep it civil… and everybody love everybody!)
2) For security, please do not reveal the current location of your Sailor or Officer.
3) Remember that this community is public, so anything you post (about yourself, your child or someone else) can be seen by anyone.
4) This site is moderated, so inappropriate content will be removed, like anything vulgar, hateful, violent, racist or otherwise obnoxious or illegal.
5) We may remove anything deemed inappropriate or inaccurate.
6) Members who solicit, advertise products, spam or flood on this site will be asked to walk the plank. Seriously.
7) DON'T SHOUT! Writing in capital letters means you're screaming in the digital world. That's not nice. So to emphasize a word, place *asterisks* on either side.
8) Let’s be tidy. Before beginning a new topic in the Forums, try searching at the top right of your screen to see if the subject has been addressed already. AKA- Be BEST friends with the search button!
9) Please don’t send the site's administrator (that’s me!) questions about the Navy. That’s what the Forums and your local recruiter are for. This site's administrators are NOT members of the U.S. Navy. They're here to keep the topics organized but cannot provide any Navy-related answers, nor can they respond to personal questions. (And trust me, Navy Moms answer quicker and better than I ever could)
10) Feel free to contact me with suggestions or comments about this site’s functionality.

Okay, so those are the house rules. Time to connect with other Navy moms!
I look forward to reading more about you!
Sincerely, Catherine

Welcome to Navyfor moms, and New York Navy Moms! I'm sure you have a wealth of information to share with us new Navy Moms. My son is currently in sub school in Groton, Ct. When will your son be deployed? What do you know about liberty cards-how do they get them? My son has a yellow one, not sure what that entails. He says they are white, yellow and blue. Do you have any info on this? Thanks, Vicki

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Get photos there the life line to the past when they get out of the Navy years from now and there older. Each photo is a story of a day at sea or on shore. They all share an important part to get the job done.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made
