I am a special education teacher. I have been married for 24 years to my husband Don. We have 3 children, a daughter Ashley 22, our son, Alex 20, and a daughter Brittany 15. I enjoy attending all of my children's activities and love watching all the sports that they are in. I enjoy vacationing as a family so I hope to be able to visit Alex wherever he ends up!
hey Nancy, left a note in az moms too. but remembered she said the regular bead garland was way to long. Instead she got those plastic bead throw beads from Party city. They were long enough to slip over the top and down . She had a four ft tree and used 4 of them. Also, it was the only place she found white, for the red white and blue! Most of these trees have all white lights BUT you can find multicolored ones, and that says xmas to me! LOL.
We do a few trees each year for folks without and get them at walgreens , watch for coupons! The best bet is to make sure you ship last week in Nov! First week in Dec latest so get to stepping! LOL. also, you can buy a package of plastic ball ornaments in red and blue and paint USN in white glitter glue or just glue and use white glitter.
those little flags can be found at party city too. and santa works because he is so american now! get a white star for the top and pack it in the box, not on the tree, and you are set! She also found red white and blue iceles and slipped that little package inside the box too. Have fun, I am sure you will come up with many ideas, this is a few to get you started!
listening to Highway to the danger zone, ROFL! when Mitch was home last, I had the guide up on the TV and Top Gun was on TMC. I told Dad stay away from that , if he heres a half a sentence he will be down here beggin to watch it, for the 10,000 time!
you know, he can see about hopping on a transport plane too! also, have him check with MWR they have holiday discount info and MWE will give a discount if there cheapest fares are gone. Try southwest, they fly into Midway. Which is a plus for me cause I avoid O'hare like the plague! Also Frontier.Delta gives a discount but they r shits and the discount is still more expensive than some of the others. It seems like last holiday American offered one to, but most of the time South west is the cheapest with the best flights!
Nancy, I can't remember where to where he is flying! DUH! we are getting to be such a big group I am having trouble remembering everyone, LOL> Where have you been By the way?
Southwest treats our military like royalty! But to see if there is a discount , you have to call. They have good prices on their flights anyway, and the seats are leather so they are cleaner and more comfortable. The only others I fly are frontier and Alaska. Frontier is my fav because of the TV's LOL> esp on long flights! Air tran has cheap flights as well. Stay away from US air, and Delta! they absolutley SUCK. LOL>
You are about at the end of cheap fares time wise, so get on it girlefriend and good luck!
ok, so then my next question is why can't he get his own car??? If he gets a cheap car, he can sell it cheap to the gnext guy when he gets transferred out, and then doesn't have to worry about transport, also, he can make payments he can also be responcible and maybe you can help him figure it out, also, the credit union on the base is probably in poartnership with 2 -3 dealers to make sure the kids don't get bad deals. Mitch didn't use one, ( he did no research as he is stupid at the moment), and have him get pre qu'd for an amount, have him figure out hi finance's ( they have people who will sit with a guy and help him with this. it has been great for MItch), and then he can see on paper how much car payment he can afford. Tell him not to get a sports car, or anything biger than a 4 cylinder or his car insurance is going to be crazy!
Plus ca has VERY strict emmision standadrds! and make sure anycar he looks at meets those and if not, the dealer is responcible to make it so. BEFORE you sign on the dotted line.
I would also find out how old the guys are of the moms you are talking too. I am pretty sure there is transport to his job, if he knows where to look, also, at night, all he needs is a bike, and the car would be for getting off base, and you can bet those other kids have painted a pretty grim picture for their parents to.
I leave you with this thought... it seems like yu are a college grad. as am I. There was a reason you weren't allowed to have a car until you were a jr. in college, and it was n't the lame parking excuse they gave everyone, LMAO.
so my advice is, get him a bike, if he wants a car, help him find the best deal for HIM to pay for. He will take better care of it if he is paying and that will cause him to be more careful of him too. LOL>
I hope this is the right advice... I think it is. Anyway, it's what the heck we should have done and I have had MANY sleepless nights because we didn't do it. Boys are NOT girls, on so many many levels!
I mean peddle pwoer, and a good one, one that won't rust to badly and I would ask around on that site , asl MOMs who have ben there if she saw alot of bikes. Motorcycles are good too, depending on the Kid, ( mine would become an organ donor within the first few weeks I'm afraid. )
Nancy, getting our sailor a car was the biggest mistake we have ever made! I wish I had never started down that road. Tell him to get a bike. The number of bikes on a base is AMAZING!. they all ride and in Ca. the cost of a car is more because of the G air standards, so his would car would have to pas a test and have stuff put on it and it gets expensive, plus, think it over... My 19 year old has been in nothing but trouble from about 1 week after he had a car. not with The Navy, ( well OK, he can't park on base),
I would ask a couple of Moms that have visited this base what they think. You know your kid and what they can handel. I am paranoid right now, ROFL.
Nancy I have lots more, let me know what you like to do and I can stream line a bit! From great hotels to good food on the cheap. I love vegas! Its so diverse! great day trips too, on the cheap, or by helicopter.
Hi Nancy,
Jonathan said there is a bus that runs every 45 minutes on base.He said they run from the barracks to work. He said you will need to have the car registered in his name and have his own insurance in order to get it base registered.
Hi Nancy, I just saw your post on Lemoore. My son is stationed in Lemoore. He's been there for 18 months (he's home right now on leave but heading back up on Saturday). If you need to know anything, just give me a yell and I'll check with him for you (: He is in VFA125 and is a AZ E3. Welcome aboard!!
