Kelly, My son graduated from boot camp on 3-20 and what an experience is all I can say. I stayed at La Quinta in Gurnee, which if you have a vehicle is about a 10 minute drive from base. I think I paid $63.00 each night, which included the military…

Our son is in his A schooling in Pensacola. We've gone to see him there twice. On the last visit he had a slight headache. When we were in the NEX I asked if he had asprin as we were going to buy it for him. He said they can't have asprin or any of…

Our son graduated 1-30-09. He had an 'inkling' all along on his own progress that he'd be fine. However, beside them knowing how they're doing and relaying that to you they must pass their PFT's (personal fitness tests-running, swimming, etc.) which…

I am running days behind but am trying to get to all new members... so will try to catch up tonight.
Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Injury to sailor

My sailor thinks he/she has injured his/her foot in a recent run. Are they allowed to take vitamins once in their A school? Can we send vitamins or can they purchase them or purchase anti inflamatory meds? Sailor is hesitant to contact chief but I think this needs to be addressed before the problem gets worse. Any suggestions would help me greatly.

How much notice do we have that our son/daughter will actually make the ceremony for when scheduled? It all seems very confusing with the time it takes to get letters etc. Obviously I have made refundable plane tickets, but I am still a bit hesitant not knowing if I will be in the air on my trip to Chicago and I find out my kid's has been postponed?

Any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Next week my son leaves for boot camp. It is confusing what he is supposed to take with him. Like do they supply him with all clothing including underwear. I just want him to go preparred and at the same time not look like a mommy's boy. Also, this sounds dumb, but does he take a suitcase or should I get him a duffle bag. Since he is going to a cold place, do they supply him with sufficient jackets, gloves, etc.

Any comments to this confused mother would be helpful.
