Hi all. After some anguish/cancelled flights, etc, Adam is in a cab and on his way to the Charleston, SC airport to fly home (three ticket purchases, hopefully credit is available.....). Anyway, he is not in the air yet, and hopefully American Airli…
Cindy, I will be in Monterey this Friday for my son and daughter-in-laws graduation from MIIS. Where is the sailor at DLI....I can make some time to check on him. Please let me know.
Finally heard from my son, he says that Power school is really hard! Guess the boring waiting is over....be careful what you wish for, right! lol. At least he is being challenged - can't wait for the 20th when he returns for a Christmas visit! :)
Hahaha! My son loves the Subway gift cards I send, and he, too, ran right out and bought a flat screen....I guess Subway and Best Buy are great for their stockings. Any other ideas? For those of you going to PIR, have a wonderful time!
Hi Wendy...my son just finished A school, and now he is starting Power School. So, we are in the same boat, but mine is just a little further along. This is very intense, so don't expect alot of communication (mine doesn't talk much anyways!) Thanks…
Hey Katie, and all others...this is great. Adam doesn't keep me informed either. He just does what he is supposed to do and says everything is fine. So, I am looking forward to connecting with others who are part of this family group. We will all be…
Thanks Katie, my son starts power school today and I am glad/nervous for him. He has been sitting around (well, mustering, "watch"ing, etc) for a month. So, today he starts being challenged again. I am going to go to the discussion right now...if I…
Good morning everyone! Hope Thanksgiving was wonderful for all. My son is finally starting Power School in GC, SC. He has been waiting, mustering, "watch"ing, for a month and really going stir-crazy. He is looking forward to the challenge and progre…
Have a wonderful holiday all. My son will be with a family on base in GC, so at least he is in a home for Thanksgiving. It seems that someone is always missing from the table at my house...either at their in-laws or away at "school", etc. It is ok,…
Happy Thanksgiving all. (Bea, I hope you are ok? No more slipping...) Anyway, have a wonderful holiday. My son is going to be with a family in GC on base. We will get him back for Xmas. We all have so much to be thankful for, and I am thankful for e…
Nancy, my sister passed away when she was 24. My mother said that the funeral was the hardest, the walking away. She just kept reminding herself that Joy, my sister, was no longer there. Only the "house" for her spirit was buried, next to my grandpa…
Nancy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I am at a loss for words. Just know that I care....and I want to say that I am honored to be associated with all of these amazing people on N4M. Your love, support, prayers and uplifting s…
Rvogt, we have all been there...don't worry. Everyone was here for me, and now we are all here for you. The boy you dropped off and the man you will meet at PIR will astound you. Noe is right, the 10 second call and the "kid in a box" are the worst,…
I am a proud mom of 4 wonderful grown children, one daughter-in-law and many foreign exchange students! My youngest, Adam joined the Navy this year 2009. I am a self employed hairstylist in Menlo Park, CA.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
my son will have fabulous opportunities in life.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Naomi, If the file looks goofy after you open it with MS Word, go the View on menu bar, click on "Normal" on the drop down menu. You & Peg are my guinea pigs. Please feel free to proof read for me and make suggestions on improving the Guideline for Meet and Greets. I am a bit tired today recovering from having my sailor home for 12 days. Hi Naomi, You said on Nuke Moms that your son is starting power school on Monday. So is mine. Actually, he said they have indoc first and then actually start classes right after Thanksgiving. Maybe our sons will have classes together? Steve is an EM, what is your son's rate?
Naomi, That is such sad news about your dog. I hope when your son is home you can all share in the good memories that come with life with a dog. You make me stop and think how we will handle that news when the time comes for our dog. How can a dog tug at our heart strings so hard?
I hope everything is still on track for your son's leave time. We've just learned that there's more delays and he won't be coming home as soon as hoped. It's hard fighting the disappointment but eventually it will happen.
He is moving across the street to pre buds. From what I understand we will get some time during the day with him on Sat & Sunday, but until I hear from him I won't know for sure....Keeping my fingers crossed! !!
The box went to his dad. I was bummed I didn't get it but I got the form letter with his address and a quick note from him. I have already sent off letters and will be sending more this week. I met a few moms with boys in the same group as Taylor and they are all Seal candidates as well. Now I will know someone at PIR. I booked our flights and hotel....42 days and counting down!!
We wont be seeing him till probably December and even that is iffy. He got his leave changed to November to get married and now isn't getting married, said it would be too painful to come home when he was supposed to get married.
I hope we can fly out for perhaps his prototype graduation. Might go there for our 25th wedding anniversary in the summer.
Hi Naomi, Yes---much to my amazement---it's a smaller world than you think. My friend's name is Tammy and her stylist is Elia, but we think that your daughter and her daughter went to the same college in SB! She will be coming in on Friday so maybe you will meet her. I can't make it on Friday so will have to try for another time.
Naomi, That is such good news that your son will be coming home on leave......even if you have to miss the M&G there will be others. We will figure out our schedules closer to the date. Yes, my friend is a client at Textures. She said she would take me in there one day. I can't get over what a small world it is. I met a N4M here whose son was coached by my husband during his middle school baseball years. What are the chances??
We'll keep in touch for sure!
Hi Naomi, Sorry to miss you at the 9/5 meet and greet. It was my first time to meet some bay area moms. The Los Altos meeting is a possibilty and thank you for the invite. Some of the other moms may be carpooling --- we should caravan! If I have to miss the 10/25 meet&greet it will be for the BEST of all reasons: my son may be home on leave, We still have no set dates......I keep reminding myself: it's Navy time we're dealing with.... What salon do you work at? I have a friend who thought she recognized your name in MP. How is A school going for your son?
