When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy supports the family ties that we have worked so hard to keep. Jennifer is a truely amazing women and I'm so very proud of her.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

We picked her up late last night and it is great to have her home. That is what I am concentrating on until after the holidays, then I will deal with the next departure. Have a merry christmas and happy new year yourself. I hope you are coming along after your surgery so you can enjoy the holidays and your daughter being home.

she comes home on sunday, I think. These were her original plans but we both thought they would change, well we were wrong again. God help us both. Welcome home to your daughter.

Can't sleep huh, you sound like me. I hadnt slept in months until Ashley graduated boot camp. Now I sleep, but not a lot, I chalk it up to old age, I turned 50 yesterday. We are still waiting for Ashley to get her orders to change her flight plans. She finishes her schooling Friday and says supposedly will get her new orders the beginning of this week, didnt hear from her last night, so frustrating. Not in the holiday mood this year, since Christmas is next Saturday I hope my mood changes soon. Enjoy your daughter and I hope your healing continues quickly.

Hi Janis...My son has been in for 2 years. He is with the VFA-103. He is a PRAN. The easiest explaination as to what he does is the old WWll term "parachut rigger" air crew. The squad is assigned to the IKE so they go on deployment when the IKE goes. This will be the second major deployment for him. The first was difficult. In fact to be honest this whole experience has been difficult for me. I miss him terribly whether he is on shore or on ship! The one thing that I have learned though is that the sailors do take care of eachother! I can't say don't worry...we all do! Your daughter will grow in so many ways during this time.

I guess I was confused, I thought your daughter was coming home for the holidays. I dont think Ashley was too informative on that. Yes, Ashey told me how hard it was to say goodbye to her today and I guess next week it is someone else leaving and then her. I basically told her the same thing that she will continue to make friends through this journey and when she get to where-ever she will be for awhile hopefully she wont be saying goodbye so much. She is still awaiting her new orders which is very frustrating. I hope your daughter gets to come home too. Take care.
