Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Patience is a virtue!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Robert is in Goosecreek South Carolina in Nuke school. He has graduated A school and is waiting to start Power school then Prototype. His best friend his a corpsman waiting to train with the marines also. Rob left for bootcamp october 27,2008. He will be in school for another year. The navy nuke school has alot of schooling not to mention long study hours. Which is funny considering I dont think he ever studied in school, thank goodness he is smart. We knew one day he would use the brains god gave him. He will be on a sub or carrier once his schooling is over. Rob friend leaves to train with the marines out of Great lakes soon how about your son. I am herer if you have any more questions or just want to talk. Rob was on leave a few weeks ago and it was nice having the three kids home. We will not get to see him again until he graduates p[ower school sometime in February when we fly to see him.

Virginia...there is a hotel right by the base (about two miles...don't remember the name) but there is also a restaurant (pretty good food there) right next door to the hotel. Leave where ever you stay to get to the graduation at least an hour before start time. Bleachers fill up fast and the traffic going onto the post gets absolutely insane! Plus, you want a spot right up front! Best wishes to you!

Hi, Dawn. I read your comment to Pat and wanted to tell you that my son is an only child, too. Today is my first day of ever logging onto Navyformoms.com, so I'm not sure what to say. My son is scheduled to take his first exam (entrance/aptitude) this coming Thursday, so there are still a lot of uncertainties at this point. With him being my only child, I'm really starting to get depressed. I sure am going to miss him. But, he's doing what he wants to do, and I certainly respect that...not to mention I'm very proud of him.

Well, good luck to you and keep in touch. By the way, I see you are from San Antonio. I was born there and just found my birth mother (this year), who still lives there. It's been an exciting year!

your page brought tears to my eyes. the last time i saw my son was 6 days ago, when he left for bootcamp and i miss him so much already. i think about him every minute, wondering what he's doing and worrying that they are being hard on him in bootcamp. how did your son do in bootcamp? so i guess the missing part doesn't get any easier?

Hi & welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What is your son/daughter doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor. Pat
