Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To take this experience one day at a time because if you don't it will overwhelm you ! And also to keep your phone on you at all times because you never know when they will get to call you and hearing their voice is just amazing !
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Is It True ... ? Question About Memorial Day Weekend !

Hey everyone ! I was wondering if anyone knew if it was true that if you are a Phase 2, you are allowed to come home on Memorial Day Weekend !? My boyfriend said that it was a rumor floating around his A school in Pensacola and he is trying to find out if that is true or not ! So I figured I would ask on here to see if anyone has a sailor that knows for sure or if your sailor has already been through the Memorial Day Weekend holiday in the Navy ! Questions about Pensacola, FL !

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to stay in Pensacola, FL ! I am going down on July 3rd to visit my boyfriend James and I have been doing some research and havnt found very many hotels close to base ! Also any recommendations for things to do while down there !? Also is the airport close to base !? If anyone knows anything please let me know ! I would appreciate it a lot ! Thanks so much ! = o )

So I woke up yesterday morning to James calling me at 6am saying that he was at the airport on his way to Pensacola, FL ! He said that Tuesday night before he went to bed they gave him the heads up that he would be leaving tomorrow ! He had to be up at 3am to go to the airport and had a layover in Georgia ( He called me when they landed ... about 11:50am ) and then finally they flew into FL ! My Trip To Chicago For Bootcamp Graduation !

I just currently went to Chicago for my boyfriend James's bootcamp graduation ( 4-18-08 ) ! We had so much fun ! I was so excited to get to see him ! He had liberty all weekend ( no overnight liberty ) for pretty much all day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ! We went to the Navy Pier on Saturday for a while and grabbed a bite to eat ! yeah, i'm so glad he gets the whole weekend off cause
some of my friends, their boyfriends went into the navy
too and right after PIR they have to ship out!

i'm doing good.
i've gotten two letters so far.
i should get my third today.

and i got a call from him yesterday
and missed it!

Ok, well I actually just got my first phone call from him on Tuesday :). It was the best 10 minutes of my life...i'm pretty much certain! Lol! Well, at least until the next call! He said that he has been getting them now, that he got a bunch at one time. He actually got a letter that I sent last Wednesday, so that's less than a week, so that's Really good :) I am just counting down the days now!! How did it work after BC. Steve had mentioned before he left that he may have 1-2 weeks and he was told he would be able to fly home for a few days, get his laptop and phone, and then just be down in San Antonio by the start of A school.....I haven't heard anything about anyone else doing that really.....maybe one or two people, then again, he isn't going to FL like most of the navy guys it seems......hmm...i wonder.....

Hey, so I was curious. When James was at BC, did he ever say that he wasn't getting your letters? Do they eventually catch up to him at BC, b/c my b/f sent me 5 letters in one envelope, and in every one he was telling me how he hasn't heard from me and that he's worried and that he thinks I don't care about him or his feelings. What is going on!??!

My boyfriend, Steve, just left for Navy bootcamp at GL on May 1st. His Mom and I text a lot, and I get to go to his graduation. My worry is that he is going to change...lose his sense of humor.....idk...just not be the man I fell in love with. What's your take on this??

Hi Nicole,
I too just got back from Pensacola last Sunday. I went to see my Son (Navy), SIL (Navy) my daughter, grandbaby and DIL.
We had a great time.
There was no lock down for the sailors while I was there, however they do have to have a buddy to sign out with when leaving the base because a Sailor went missing a few weeks ago and he has not been located.
I really can't suggest any place to stay at because I stayed with my daughter and Dil in their apartment that they rented up there while the guys are in their A School.
Try to make sure that you get to the beach while you are there. Pensacola Beach is beautiful.

hi nichole! isn't this the best website for info and support? i just talked to my son josh, who is also in phase 2 in pensacola. he said something about the week leave for sailors who have been on hold like 6 or 7 weeks he's only been there since apr 13 so he didn't qualify. hope this helps. gb xxoo
