When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Be there for them. Always tell them you love the and are so proud of them. Send letters, cards, and things they miss from home, but be mindful they don't have a lot of room for storage.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hey!
I saw that your son graduated from A school and was wondering how that process is going? Is he on hold or has he moved onto his duty station? My son is getting ready to complete A school around the 20th of this month and I am looking for information! Bryan tells me it is all good, but I wanted to see what your experience has been like.

Thanks,
Kimberly

My sailor is also a Michael, only Kenneth is official first name. He checked into the Gunston Hall this afternoon. Got lost 2x LOL. But is excited to be on his way after 9 months of bc and schooling. Envy of several others as he told them he just came from AC&R school. Has a bottom bunk so he is happy. Thanks for the postive comments about Little Creek. It helps when I am 1200+ miles away. No, it is not very good set up for public transportation there. I'll be honest and tell you that my son couldn't wait to get his truck there. You can get pretty cheap insurance by stating they are Military. My son only paid some type of storage insurance on his truck while he was on deployment, and before he got his truck, because it wasnt being driven. My son and daughter-n-law ask about Military discounts on every thing. Since Little Creek, Norfolk, Virginia Beach area is almost "total" Military there are discounts around the area. By the way, things are real spread out there. Two of the pics I have up are of Little Creek. One is looking across the water and the other looks like across a parking lot. I took them standing on top of my son's ship. I'm told that your son's ship is on the side looking across the water. My son has been stationed in Little Creek for 2 years now. When I told him about your son's water craft, he told me where his ship is. Nothing but Gators and Seals in that area. It is a very beautiful area. Be sure you take a jacket. It can get rather cool at night there, even in August.

I forgot to tell you one thing. Regarding getting your son's truck to Little Creek, he might want to find out his deployment date. When he is deployed he will have to put his truck in storage. If he is in the group leaving in August they will be gone for 7 months.

Dear Paige,
I just spoke with my son. He said, your son needs to put in his request for leave right now in order to get it. He needs to tell his LPO that he needs a Leave CHIT. There is a Lodge at Little Creek. It is located behind the Ex. It cost $35.00 to $40.00 per night. You are not permitted to stay with your son regardless of wherther he has a room mate or not. The 44 hr. drive according to Mapquest is if you drive straight threw. Realistic hours to stop, eat, sight see, etc. in a car would be more like 3 -5 days. Hope this is some assistance to you. Little Creek has a web sight you can go to to make Reservation for Lodging or other information. Good Luck!

I will look into those books........ Sounds great :)
I was jut thinking I may have to rent officer and a gentleman again...that dealt with women by the base and wanting to grab a sailor for a better life. Hey read Karens comment on my page it answers the question (at least from her point of what has happened to her sons so far) on paying for food on ships
