Hi Pam,

I don't think you are too far from my son. As a matter of fact, I remember seeing Bristol, on that long road (is it Route 61?) crossing over into TN.

Yes I have been hearing from my son at least 4 times out of the week. My son said he was also seasick for the first couple of days and now he doesn't even feel like he's on a ship.

Well take care...

Hi Pam,

My son attends Lee University (Christian College) in Cleveland, TN. This is actually his second semester and he loves the school. I've been there around 4 times and it is a very nice school. Where are you exactly?

HI Pam,
Happy 4th to you, also. I absolutely agree with you on this holiday meaning more to me now because Bill is in the Navy, Flag Day and all others that also pertain to our military, past, present, and future. Ask away and if I can, I'll be happy to answer your questions. Have a great and safe Holiday, hugs, M.J.

HI Pam, My son stayed undesignated until after he was on the G-dub for awhile, then he tested last fall & found out that he made GM3, up until that point, he was in deck department.

Yes, that showing of the Carrier, is an eye-opener. I can't even begin to imagine being on something like a Carrier, but God made our Sailors to be so very adaptable that they may do their duty & serve their Country to the best of their abilities and for that, I Thank God! And of course for our Sailors & all Military Personnel!

Bill, graduated in May of '07 & left for Basic Training in August of '07. We were back & forth to the Naval Base at Norfolk up until the G-Dub pulled out for her new home-port.

I hope that they are all doing well & having a relaxing time now. God knows, they deserve it! Hugs, M.J.

You are so welcome! I love my Navy Mommas/Friends! That's cool that you have relatives in WV. MY son is aboard the G-Dub. He was attached to the ship while still in Great Lakes and we've made lots & lots of trips across the mountains to Norfolk until the ship left for her new home port .We got him home as much as we could before the ship pulled out because we knew that leave time would be few and far in between. What job will your son have? Hugs, M.J.

also, the reason she had almost 30 days, from boot she went on medical hold at THU for months, then she went to aicrew in Pensacola and after a couple of weeks there she was re-classed to storekeeper and sent to Mississippi. She was gone from April 15 until December 23 before her first leave.

Pam,
My daughter took most of her 30 days total leave. They had not out processed her from A school by 12/23 so she took leave for Xmas and had to go back and get out processed (Mississippi) on 1/3. She then came home for about 3 weeks. She did go into the hole on her leave, and she is not sure if she gets to come home this Xmas, or will have to wait until January.

My son is in Mississippi. He is SH which is supply. He graduated May 29th from boot camp. He is still very happy with his choice, but not a huge fan of Mississippi. He requested overseas duty. He wants to travel before he has a family. I am far more nervous than he is with him being that close to Korea. I hope it is all trash talk and nothing comes out of it.

Pam,
My daughter went to the GW by way of Atsugi in January. Get a passport now and have yen and dollars when you get there, Life will be much easier. She is assigned to HS-14, but attached to the GW so she has a barracks room at Atsugi for which she is very grateful. If your son would like to contact my daughter I can provide her mil e-mail address.
Sincerely
Kathy Daniel

Pam..I set the record straight on our PIR June 12 forum, but wanted to let you know also..the "girlfriend" isn't Caleb's girlfriend..it's his sister(my youngest)...but thank you for the compliment! She's given us much to be proud of also..she was on a full-ride scholarship for volleyball at the Univ of Texas at Austin..she graduated last year from there!..His older brother, Josh, graduated from Arizona State in 2006, but wasn't able to attend, as he is head golf pro at a course here in Phoenix. Thanks for the comliment though! He's proud of his sis also!
