Hi Pam,
I was showing our son Evan this web site and he recognized Josh. He wants to say hi to him and hopes he is OK. Evan is transitioning back to civilian life. He came home with an acute upper respiratory infection. Was Josh sick too?
Evan is feeling better now due to the antibiotics.

How are you Pam. I really found Navy4moms helpful.

Take care,
Polly

Hi Pam, just following up on Josh's situation since you posted on BC moms. I read your updates on Ship 17, glad you connected with Rose and the ladies there! I'm sorry it has turned out this way. I want you to know that I have shared your story and a few others, with the Moms on the DEPPERS Group, actually started a discussion, in hopes of saving other Recruits from the same fate:

It isn't right, and those Recruiters should be held accountable! Let us know if you make any inroads with this issue and if/how you need support. I know this is a trial for all of you, not how you planned to spend Christmas or start the New Year, I pray you will soon be on the other side. My best and God's blessings to you, your family and especially Josh. Jer:29:11,12

Oh Pam; I'm so sorry. I get so mad at the Recruiters. They are so bad about telling the Recruits & us parents what they think they have to to get those numbers that they are required to have. I'm w/Rhonda... We sign for our guys records to be open. So that shouldn't have been an issue. Also ADHD is used so much now. My son knows a guy that was in DEPs w/him.... The recruiters here knew of the diagnosis.... but the guy went through Boot Camp & happen to tell the wrong person at A school & he got released too. I'm the type though that would fight it.... But that's just me.. Good Luck, Ya'll will be in our prayers & please keep us informed

Pam-I'm so sorry to hear about your son. It doesn't appear as he was even in GL very long. I have read many stories such as yours and I often wonder how it is that this happens to some and not to others. Was he in DEP for a while before going? I was under the impression that medical records are open to them during DEP as the recruit has already signed the papers allowing them access. I had read somewhere that they allowed to join the navy if they have not been on med for atleast a year. It's such a shame...I'm so sorry..I hope he comes home soon.

Oh yeah; with him being that much older it'll probably be a complete different case than w/Corey. He was only 18. He had been out of high school 6 mos. Let him also know to be aware that things may not be exactly like the recruiters promised..... but it'll be what he makes it. Let him know not to let anything else distract him. There is a lot of time to play; but he needs to be very dedicated. I'm not trying to discourage him....pls don't think I am. It can be hard; but it's also very interesting.....
