Hoppi--this is the first I've noticed your signature. Congratulations on a job well done! Yup, you'll be busy, but you'll never forget the day they pin on your anchors. Bravo zulu!

Close family member will be pinned this September (2009). What should we expect? What to wear? How formal is it? Where should we stay in San Diegeo? Is there a Navy family hotel (Like at the Great Lakes Naval station?). We're so excited, want to hon…

Pat, You look so familiar to me! I grew up in Litchfield, garduated class of 1966. I have a son now serving in Afghanistan with the Special Forces. He has been in the Navy for 18 years and is a Commander. Did you go to the first Meet and Greet? I would love to attend one of those. I hate beening the only mom in a sea of National Guard from Minnesota's Blue Star Mothers. Please send a message if you like. Thanks

Pat...I would love to go, but weekends are bad for me and we have 2 big groups here that weekend so I won't be able to go....I will be there in spirit, and hope someone takes pictures and then post them.....I understand weekends are the best time, but not with our job, but that is okay!...Maybe next time or sometime maybe I can come over to your area and we can have coffee or dinner, sounds good to me. We are really busy at camp right now getting ready for summer groups. Trust all is well at your house, and I haven't had time to check out Navy4Moms either....Nikki is doing good, but I think ready to be on land. She has to decide in March what she is going to do...sign up for another 5 years...how is your son? How about this rain? Minnesota weather!! Have a great day....

Hi Pat, I was reading through some of the comments and saw you were at the Blue Angels in Duluth. We were there too this past summer! We took our 8 year old nephew to see them. It was super hot, we had VIP seating because we ran into Ian's recruiter and he gave us tickets to that area. We weren't in the tent though. Boy was I sunburned! The Angels are so amazing! I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them perform.

Yes I live about 14 miles from Detroit Lakes. We are on a lake, Pelican Lake, just south of town. We love it here. Our entire family, my husband, kids and I, are all in love with water. We find it soothing for our souls. It was not a big surprise that we would have a child choose to go into the navy....he has been on the water literally since the day he was born. I took Nick swimming for the first time when he was 6 weeks old. How long has your brother lived in Detroit Lakes? Do you visit him? If so, we will have to try to get together when you are up here.

Hello and welcome to N4M’s!
We’re so glad you’ve joined us! My name is Michelle (The Admin), but you can call me Elle. Just stopping by with a late welcome! With that said, I hope you enjoy your time here, and if you have any questions/comments/concerns – send them my way! ☺

Pat...wow your son has been in for a long time, and I don't know if Nikki will stay in or not...her 4 years will be done in March and so they will be after her to re-enlist I am sure, She is a plane captain, and I think she loves her job, but she will have another year as she signed up for 5 years. She will be 26 yrs. old this year, so she is not a kid and she signed up to help with college, and she is taking classes, but after all she has done and been all over I don't know if she will be happy with a normal job. Our oldest daughter was in the Marines many years ago and she was stationed in Hawaii so we went there several times while she was there, it was awesome!!! I said I could be a bag lady over there. If you get to Paynesville be sure and let me know....what is your job that you would come to our small town? Take care, weather not so bad today, but I guess it is suppose to get colder again!!! It is Minnesota!! ....gwen

Pat...just let me know when you are coming this way and it would be great to meet you, I would love it, we could meet in town or you could come out to camp for coffee also. We live at Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds, but now it is Koronis Ministries. That would be so much fun, Our granddaughter is in the Navy almost 4 years, and she is gone out on a ship....I now wonder if she will ever be happy having a normal job...take care and let me know when you get over this way...thanks..gwen

Pat...I thought I would look it up and I found it and I do know where you are, we have been through there, and I just have not paid attention to where and the name. I would just go to Litchfield and on a ways and I would be there.....that would be great! thanks...gwen

Wow, the Blue Angels! I have heard and read a lot about that group but never knew anyone that was an actual member. That must be exciting but also a little scary. Do you have any pictures of him and his Blue Angels group? Yup, 10 years sounds like it could be a career for him. Does he come home very often. My son Shawn went in last June so the leave he has at the end of this month is his first. He will be here from December 27 and leave to go back on January 4th. Can't wait to see him. Merry Christmas! Hi and Welcome to N4M. We are proud to have you aboard. Please look on the Events For Blue Candle Lighting. We are lighting blue candles on Christmas day to remember our sons, daughters and spouses who will not be home for the holidays. Some of our children will be home but we wanted to make sure we remember the ones on duty and their families. Please RSVP as if your are attending because it counts. All you have to do is light a blue candle in your home on Christmas day and you will have participated. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
